zeitgeist57
Looking at 5-passenger, longbed trucks with a stick shift and A/C (needle in a haystack!). Love the Cummins, but looking for cheaper alternatives... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Tight-Responsive-99-Dodge-V10-5speed-88k-ONE-OWNER-/290507991080?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item43a3a02828 Aside from abysmal fuel economy, any major issues with the Dodge truck V10s? Might sound awesome with an open exhaust system...

Bahnstoermer1647545488
Wow, that thing looks a shit ton cleaner than most pickups of that age... or of many pickups older than 2 years! LOL. Why are pickup drivers so crappy to their vehicles? I always want a leather interior 6 speed diesel truck, and finding that is another needle in a haystack, as leather in a pickup almost never happens unless it's a new half ton gas. That the market for those trucks is all people that just don't give a shit and trash their vehicles irritates the hell out of me
AWW$HEEET
I think those engines are basically the same as the viper aside from heads and cam. I could be wrong.
LJ
People don't fit in the backseat of those Dodge's
Doc1647545523
I think those engines are basically the same as the viper aside from heads and cam. I could be wrong. You're quite wrong. The RAM V-10 shares virtually no components with the Viper's V-10. I owned a 90's Dodge V-10 pickup. I had no engine issues whatsoever in 50k miles. As you mentioned, though, the mileage is terrible. GRN96WS6
Just curious as to why you are so deadset on a manual.....The newer autos are just fine compared to what they used to be.
Aaron
Because automatics suck the life out of any and all vehicles. Don't care how fast they are, boring as hell. The only ones who get a half point are the DSG style automated manuals, and even then, a manual is more fun. I am assuming clay feels the same. Berto
man up with the diesel, you won't regret it.
hot_wire
Towed a two axle landscape trailer around this summer with the automatic version of that truck. Well built, solid truck with plenty of power. The one I drove had a couple hundred thousand miles on it, was lifted, and was nowhere near that pretty. Back seat leaves alot to be desired. Also, single digit fuel economy is not fun for whoever pays the bills...
Alex L.
Save for the diesel.
Forrest Gump 9
I think those engines are basically the same as the viper aside from heads and cam. I could be wrong. Dodge do have a limited run of the Ram with the Viper engine, but this one is not. The one with the Viper engine usually command slot higher price and rarer too. GSXRAntwon
Diesel is the way to go for sure, better longevity, more power/tq, and better gas mileage.

Nitrousbird
Might sound awesome with an open exhaust system... Well, Vipers (especially first generation) tend to sound like utter shit, and though this motor is different from that era of Viper motor, one would assume it will sound like ass as well. zeitgeist57
Thx, CR. I'll hold out for a diesel. Cleetus is doing well by me, but I am still holding out for an extended cab, longbed, Cummins Ram with a 5- or 6-speed manual.
2 Sweet
Well, Vipers (especially first generation) tend to sound like utter shit, and though this motor is different from that era of Viper motor, one would assume it will sound like ass as well. I was curious, so I searched on youtube, and you are 100% correct... Even the Rams/Vipers with aftermarket exhausts sounds like shit
Got-Boost?
Vipers with the right exhaust are pure sex... Like any car with the wrong exhuast, it sounds like shit...

Patterson
Not sure why Clay needs to waste the loot on the Diesel. He's not hauling a huge trailer, race car, and such. Just tooling around will do no good for that thing. Get the gasser, live with the 10 mpg, and love life.

TimTaylor751647545500
My buddy in VA will soon be selling his dually ram diesel which is a 6 spd. I can get details if you're interested. Here's a couple shots of it in October when I was down there helping him frame in a room. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/cars/DSC05221.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/cars/DSC05219.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v289/TimTaylor75/cars/DSC05211.jpg
