Street Racing Gone Wrong

Your off on the camaro's speed. Based on shift points, and the down shifts during the 5 seconds he was slowing down I put him at 70ish on impact. Looking at the vic both cars were in sight within the entire 5 seconds of the camaro slow down period. The vic hit the back of the mustang and kept rolling.

 

So do you agree that when they were at 70mph they were flying by those 6 cars? That tells me quite a bit about the typical speed of cars on that road. These guys were 2x+ them easy.

 

Do you see in the first still shot I posted above, the mustang swerving? ie...the vic was in motion of the turn and the mustang came up so fast he had to swerve out of the way.

 

Do you think the Vic intentionally kept turning in front of a speeding car? or is it more likely they were in the clear, made the turn and had no idea two speeding cars were coming up to impact them?

 

Let's put it in perspective the other way....if the Crown Vic was so far in the wrong, why didn't the other 6 cars in the lane closer to him plow up his ass like that? Afterall, if he was that wrong, he would have been crushed by them. However, given a sudden accident even, which the other drivers likely were surprised by, they all apparently were able to stop in time. Hmmm.....wonder why ?

 

Do you not agree that those 6 vehicles were likely going a proper speed to maybe even a typical +5mph over the limit and had plenty of time to let him make that turn? IMO, if I was in any one of those six cars, I would have say, "damn old man" and slowed down and let him complete his turn, figure out where the fuck he was going and then sped past him.

 

Again, speed did play a role. Without the speed, this would have never happened. The worst thing would have been a video of some punks in a 'Maro giving an old couple coming back from lunch at Golden Corral the bird.

Are you guys sure the Vic was making a left turn? Judging by the angle he was approaching, I assumed he was crossing the main road from the left side of the intersection, and had stopped in the median/center lane, where he should have waited for traffic to clear so he could continue on his way

No, they were at at least 110mph when passing those cars (going by standard shifting points)

and the speedo when they showed it for a hot second around 90mph. Its the slow down times and down shifts that put them in the 70-80 range. At 75mph, in a 3 lane highway, with no visual obstructions the driver appears to be a victim of habit. My guess would be they have droven that way before. Saw the cars so far away and rather than judging the amount of ground being covered they assumed it was just another car driving the speed limit. Happens all the time.

Yeah I agree he was following the truck, what I meant was that the Vic wasn't oncoming traffic who decided to turn left. I assumed that it was coming from a street on the left, traveling straight, across the main road where the stang/camaro were driving.

Old man in vic is sitting at stop light wanting to turn left on green. Perfectly fine.

 

The old man sees a white truck/van in the left lane and a red mustang in the right lane coming towards him (from his pov). Since the old man is like everyone else in the world he is looking at the closer car since he wants to turn left. At this point there is most likely a large gap between the two cars.

 

So as the white van/truck gets closer he starts to inch out because from his pov the red pos mustang is far enough away that he'll make it. It's one of those situations where you could go and maybe have to screech the tires a little bit or you could just sit and be safe. And we all know what the old fart did.

 

But continuing on, the old man is inching out to go after the van/truck drives by. And then the fucker in the van turns right. I can't tell if he's signaling or if he's just turning with no blinker. So at this point you have the old man in the vic inching out into the intersection, some d bag in a white truck/van not using his blinker turning right and two fucktards driving down the road "racing" at least 60mph.

 

So what you have from all of that is the van turning completely oblivious to the whole situation, the old man shitting himself because he most likely hit his brakes when he saw the van/truck was turning instead of going through the intersection and then you have dumb and dumber driving down the street at least going 60mph.
