Im looking for a small point n shoot camera that I can throw in the back of the bike or my pocket when im out and dont wanna carry a big camera. I wanna stay in the $200 or less range and with that being said here is what i found so far, a Canon PowerShot SD1400 IS.

Give me some ideas....discuss

honestly with as good as phone cameras are anymore, why even bother with a point and shoot camera. I bought a little nikon point and shoot thinking that it would be a nice investment for when I dont want to carry around my D-SLR and found that honestly, my phone does just as good of a job as the P&S does so it just sits in the drawer and hardly ever gets used.

my phone has an 8mp (IIRC) camera, but i dont think it takes nearly as good pics as my camera unless its daylight out...if its low light or target isnt completely still, it sucks.`

MP do not mean QUALITY!!!

My old NIkon D70 was only 7.x IIRC.. and it would out shoot 10+mp cameras all day

@Smokin5's- I have a EVO and it takes good pics if im not rushed at all but i figured a decent camera would be better.

A good P&S will do better. The sensors on phones don't carry anywhere near the the bit depth or dynamic range in comparison. It will really show if you being to do any manipulation.

I've posted a couple links for you to refer to. Not in a place to dig for them, but if you search they should turn up in the pics section.

At one time I would have agreed with you but I took some photos the other day with my droid that just crushed my nikon p&s.

With that being said, I'm a die hard slr fan and prefer to use nothing else.

John this is the same camera I bought Tina to carry. Its smaller than my blackberry phone and im honestly shocked at the quality the camera shoots with. I highly recommend. SD780is is another great camera. They are pretty much the same. I can put this in my pocket and forget its in there.

We have a Panasonic Lumix and love it. It has a quicker reaction time than the CyberShots and PowerShots we played with and we got it for about $139 on sale from $179 I think at Best Buy. Has a touch screen and a lot of neat photo options.
