Flex Fuel Question

Not worth it to you since you wont see any performance gains, but you will notice a decrease in fuel economy. You will have cleaner emissions and using more of a renewable source though.

Maybe your truck will balance itself out depending on how much your economy drops vs cost.

Assuming by "new" you meant 2010, and using fed specs (e-85 12 mpg combined and regular unleaded 16 mpg combined). Then take the current gas prices locally according to gasbuddy.com ($4.25) and e85prices.com($3.99), you get the following results:

E85 cost per mile: $0.333

E85 miles per dollar: 3.008

Gas cost per mile: $0.266

Gas miles per dollar: 3.765

For furture calculations or other vehicles

Actually, looks like I read the page wrong. e-85 should be $3.12 for the last reported case in Columbus. Regular Unleaded was actually $3.86 in Columbus on that same day. Still shows gas is the best currently.

E85:

$0.260 per mile

3.846 miles per $

Gas: Best

$0.241 per mile

4.145 miles per $

E85 cost per mile:

$0.267

E85 miles per dollar:

3.750

Gas cost per mile:

$0.299

Gas miles per dollar:

3.341

E85 is better in my truck

Also, E85 is $3.52/gal at the Kroger at Broad and RNA with a + card and gas is $4.19 for unleaded

Giant Eagle is a rip off for E85
