mseebs Posted May 26, 2011 Report Share Posted May 26, 2011 if you ain't looking brand new. the miata/mazda forums would be a good shot on getting something cheaper (and maybe with tires also). i got mine via discount tire and have had good luck with them overall. only downside was i had to raise the car to stop rubbing. I got mine with Falken Azenis RT-615s for just over $1200 brand new mounted and balanced. I'm sure you could find some used on craigslist. But they're really pricey. As for rim weight, Grassroots Motorsports did a test recently showing that rim weight has much less effect on the car than you'd think. (maybe 0.1sec on an AutoX course with 4lbs per rim increase) The key is tire weight; a couple lbs per tire was good for 0.5 sec over the same course.
