verse
Understand that, but no one has named a current rapper other than Nas, Common, Kweli, Kanye. They are OK, but can't see EM, imo. Mos Def, Jus Allah, Vinnie Paz, MF doom, Talib, Tribe. That's pretty much all the hip-hop I listen to and all are better than Eminem. Orion
KRS. Saul Williams, if we are talking straight rhymes, not necessarily RAP. Kurupt. Busta. Outkast. I would take any of those dudes over Em. However, Em has serious appeal, which I can respect. I won't skip over pretty much any Eminem song in my playlist.

acklac7
Some killer lyricists mentioned in here, but not one mention of Dre? Come on! Most in the Hip-Hop community regard The Chronic 2001 as the last true rap/hip-hop album, I know I sure as hell did. After that everything just got shitty and I expanded my mind to other forms of Music. Don't get me wrong, there's still some quality rhymes post-2001 but the vast majority of it is downright intolerable. Still remeber watching STILL D.R.E on MTV for the 1st time before it was released and being like "shit..that hits something wild"

REPORT BACK after listening! New respect for Royce 5'9! Dude, I don't want to listen to a shit CD with Eminem in the first place, and I sure as hell don't want to hear Royce Da 5'9, either. What I find funny is that even Eminem makes himself look bad, in comparison to what he used to spit... he's a joke these days.

I'm a big Eminem fan and I pretty much like the whole CD after listening to it. I'm no music elitist. I just listen to what sounds good, even if it's 'trendy'. I have no issues with your opinion, but to call him a joke tells me a whole lot about your music taste. Whether people like him or not, no one can deny his talent. Also, Recovery was one of his greatest CDs. You must have liked him when he only talked about killing Kim and his mom.
