I run my heat pump as long as possible before switching to propane. I just found out from the neighbor that there is natural gas available out here (however about 1200 feet from the house) and there is an approx 600 foot geothermal loop already installed. IVRINGS Posted October 5, 2011 Report Share Posted October 5, 2011 Our 25+ year old electric unit still keeps us just around 200. On top of the stuff in the walls we have db drywall in every room.
