Berto
Hey guys. Did this family shoot with some friends and their 18mo old boy. Totally different challenges than shooting a newborn. This guy did not want to be held, was very hard to keep his attention. Most of the time you are trying to get the shot and forget about lighting. What are your tricks when trying to get pics of youngters like this? Wear a stupid hat or something? The 8 pics below are some of my favorites. The one where he is holding the lid of the pumpkin, he had lighting behind him which blew out the shot. I tried saving it but not sure I did a very good job. Any suggestions on fixing it? As always C&C welcome. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/Berto%20Photography/Larmour%20Halloween%20Shoot/LarmoursOct201116.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/Berto%20Photography/Larmour%20Halloween%20Shoot/LarmoursOct201112.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/Berto%20Photography/Larmour%20Halloween%20Shoot/LarmoursOct20119.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/Berto%20Photography/Larmour%20Halloween%20Shoot/LarmoursOct20116.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/Berto%20Photography/Larmour%20Halloween%20Shoot/LarmoursOct20115BW.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/Berto%20Photography/Larmour%20Halloween%20Shoot/LarmoursOct20114.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/Berto%20Photography/Larmour%20Halloween%20Shoot/LarmoursOct20112.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c192/BertoBizkit/Fred%20Miranda%20Forum%20Entries/Berto%20Photography/Larmour%20Halloween%20Shoot/LarmoursOct20111.jpg
TTQ B4U
Kids are great. Especially when their not yours :gabe: It's tough man. I don't do many photo shoots with kids that aren't mine because they can be hit or miss. The 8 pics below are some of my favorites. The one where he is holding the lid of the pumpkin, he had lighting behind him which blew out the shot. I tried saving it but not sure I did a very good job. Any suggestions on fixing it? When highlights are blown out badly, there's no recovering them. Best you could do is replace them with a good blending technique. Perhaps I'll play with this one if I have time/motivation. Best thing is to use an external flash, reflectors, etc...control the lighting. If you don't, it will own you.
Clifford Automotive
You have some OOF shots, and underexposed. Photo 5 & 6 are awesome, if they were in focus. Throw them in PS and us unsharpmask to try and clean them up. Sometimes you can pull them in enough to make them passable. I just sold a 8x12 that was out of focus because of this. Tractor
I have a Mickey Mouse pes dispenser that I filed down to fit into the groove of my hot shoe. It works, but really once they get to where they can run around, but not listen, its best to just chase them around and grab candids. TTQ B4U
Great Idea. I made a lens animal that fits around my hood. ^^ Ha Ha! I remember going to the zoo when my daughter was little and buying one of those monkey's that has velcro hands and had it hanging from my big lens to get her attention. I like it, I can see his eyes are more crisp. You'd be amazed at how far you can go with it to bring out the sharpness. I always watch the eyes, but I step back and check other areas to keep me in check.
Berto
I am fairly new to digital photography, just a little hesitant on too much sharpening. not sure what to look for to say 'ok too much'. I think its an improvement. Not 100% but my customers got my services for free and are absolutely thrilled by the pics, so I guess I should just learn and move on! Clifford Automotive
I hope you didnt take what I typed wrong. I dont think you did. Its hard to show emotion in text. You'll know when you sharpen it too much. Its an improvement and looks fine. And if thats good for you and them, thats all that matters. You're doing fine!
