Since we do hundreds of sub 300 dollar payments we have two different rates on our machine. We pay 1.75% under 300 and 3% over 300. But we have been locked in at those rates for 8 years. Even though I take a per transaction hit, I don't mind because several sales at the farmers market work out such that the customer just doesn't have cash and me saying "I take credit cards" often pushes them to buy a little something extra because they feel bad that they are charging something small. And not nearly as handy as that and mobile. so is the 2.75% on top of the percentage the credit card companies charge? my transactions vary from $100 to $1,500 on average. this is mainly for me and my photography business. so far I've lucked out that most everyone is paying either by cash or check. even my business customers who are all referrals understand the cash thing and have zero issues with a check cut to me personally. however, lately I've been getting smaller customers from around the country that are interested in paying via credit card for restoration and editing services and I need to find a way besides having my wife run them on her machine at the office :no: Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
