Mr. Jones
99% of people have no idea how powerful Group B cars were back then. Think Veyron fast back in the 80's. It was and still is the hallmark of no holds barred skillful racing in my eyes. Hard to imagine what it took to pilot those mounters on such varied terrain. Draco-REX
A replica, but still badass. People always comment on how powerful the Group B monsters were, but many fail to realize that suspension technology was nowhere near what it is today. It's one thing to have that much power on forest roads with today's coilovers and CAD-designed suspensions. It's quite another to do it on 80's tech shocks and a suspension designed with a slide rule and seat-of-the-pants engineering. I don't know how they stayed on the road. Yup, my thoughts exactly, and also why it met it's demise. You lose a bit of respect for the Ken Block hipsters of today when you look at the old footage. They wouldn't make it past the first stage alive back then.
Rally Pat
Yup, my thoughts exactly, and also why it met it's demise. You lose a bit of respect for the Ken Block hipsters of today when you look at the old footage. They wouldn't make it past the first stage alive back then. Truth. The cars we have today are as fast as the old group B cars despite less power, but they are less exciting to watch as they aren't fighting with suspensions designed in a shed. Although, I would rather have the slow looking safe cars that keep drivers alive, than the old cars.

zeitgeist57
Was that race/video brought to us by BARDAHL? If there was ever a car designed to be super-pissed at the world, this is the one. Love Group B videos.

CRed05
I saw an interview of some rally driver last year that used to race group b, when they asked him how it compares to the old group b cars, he just laughed and said it's nothing like it. Wish I could remember who it was. MOAR

10phone2
Beat me to it. Some of the best in car footage ever captured. And when Pikes Peak wasn't pussified with all the pavement. It's a dam shame they are in process of paving the whole road.
