Looking for a non lethal gun

I have a niece who is 17 and going to college soon, so long story short, I want to keep this thread OT for what I'm looking to buy. Here are some that I've looked at thus far, but would like the groups input or suggestions. Again, no firearm discussion please. Thanks!

I've seen the following:

Kimber Pepperblaster aka Guardian Angel® II

http://pepperblaster.com/

http://www.piexon.com/cont_03_04.shtml

^^ I like the size and method even though it's a more direct gun-shot like aim needed to be successfully deployed. Video Test

JPX™ Jet Protector

http://www.piexon.com/cont_03_02.shtml

Definitely more force and direct gun shot like aim needed but again, I like this one too.

Pepperspray Gun

http://www.redhotpepperspray.com/pepper-gun-1.html

This one is more typical of a spray, easier to use and I like the gun like handling.

Pepperball (I wish it had two shots)

I also like this one which shoots more of a cloud of pepper. The only downside would be in terms of windy environments or outdoors if weather isn't perfect. Great for parking garages, etc. though. The video IMO tells it's impact well.

a friend of mine just showed me a taser she has; its contained in what looks like a cell phone case but with one button press the metal nodes shoot out and its apparently quite effective. kinda expensive ($200 i think?) but its legal, deceptive, and powerful

I would make sure that whatever she has is Legal to have on Campus. Yes, it will be looked over if it is every needed / used, but if found before hand, she could get into trouble.

Also, CLICKY.

Is she saying in a dorm or in a campus house/apartment somewhere?

a simple can of pepper spray is your best bet. I personally would avoid the "gun" idea.

I've not looked into Tasers much, but I like the idea. Link to the one you speak of?

Thanks!

Be careful with stun guns.

Ohio - Lynn County / Cedar Rapids: Legal w/ restrictions

Any stun gun in public requires the user to have a concealed weapons permit. By literal translation, Capt. Schwartz (ph: 319-398-3911) states that technically, this includes even "snowballs" and "Stunning Devices" NOTE: Stunning Devices can be used however, in your place of business or at home.

I am not sure how this plays across the state but, that came from nonlethaldefense.com

Well after researching them a bit I talked with a coworker in Cali about them and she has the Hot Shot Pepper Ball one that is fairly small and shoots the cloud of pepper powders and decided to go with two of those. One for my niece and one for my sister in law who teaches at Columbus State. Found a 10% twitter discount and free shipping brought them down to $38ea to my door. Not bad.

What made me go that route is size and the fact that they don't need to be aimed nearly as carefully. Personally, I like the Kimber one and may even get one of those to carry while working as carrying a firearm is not allowed. Better than nothing as they say.

Thanks for the insight guys.
