M0nk3y
http://img.tapatalk.com/6363b5d7-298e-8be6.jpg 4.0s are so damn hot. I will admit the CR version is a little better social atmosphere, I think some of that is my fault though, honestly I have a hard time approaching some of these guys. Not sure really how to start the conversation with out coming off as a fan boy. I do wish a lot of these guys could be more like DOC, he has always been 1st class and put others at ease like he did when he brought the Flying Spur out. I only attend one of theirs a year, mainly this one because it's close to home. I had fun just not as much as I do at CRs event. Just IMO, it seems that some of the high rollers have an ego attached to the money they spent on their cars. That's just me. You also don't talk to these people at all on any forums, so you don't know how they act. It's weird sometimes. We've all experienced it
Crossle
what do you mean, how it was funded? Our Gub'ment did most of the funding for Fisker. To produce a "eco friendly" car that not many people can afford.
Crossle
The atmosphere was very low-key and friendly. You have to come up to people and start talking; we all know each other and are catching up as this is the first meet of the year. People aren't going to go running up to you if no one knows you. You guys need more self-confidence in person. If you had 1/100th of the confidence in person that you do on this board, you wouldn't walk away feeling shunned. And by 'you', I'm speaking generically. Not saying it was not all you guys, but lets face it. The ego's of people who own those sort of cars TENDS to be really ridiculous. You are certainly not one to talk in this manner as I feel you are a terrible example of someone "approachable" especially after your tirade of crap here on this board. It's hard as someone who spends a lot of time under their car to talk with people who dropped big bucks at a shop to have SOMEONE ELSE do their work. Sure it makes their car unique and they are very proud of their car, but that bond of hard work is lost at times.

Sure it makes their car unique and they are very proud of their car, but that bond of hard work is lost at times. That's a generalization though. Sure, are some people like that? Absolutely. But most aren't. I'm one of the most approachable people you'd ever meet in person, just ask people who actually HAVE met me in person. I always give people the benefit of the doubt and a chance. What I don't have time for is people who think that they're tough on internet chat-rooms; people who think that they're 'the shit' because they know how to post a meme. I tell people like it is; whether it's online or in person and a lot of people can't handle that. If I tell someone on here that they're full of shit and a douche, I'll say it right to their face. Usually, and this is a generalization too, people on these 'types' of boards are just wanna-be e-dick swingers. Are there exceptions, absolutely; however, they usually don't post as much as the morons. Just because you turned the wrench and the other guy didn't, doesn't mean you don't have things to talk about. Most people, like myself, don't turn a wrench because we want the best work possible and we know that we are NOT that person. If I wanted a space shuttle, I wouldn't build it myself regardless of the pride I'd experience afterwards; I want NASA engineers doing it because they're the best at it. That said, I'll gladly wax philosophic on the intricisies of the shuttle. Just go up to some people, or me, at the next meet and you will see. Out of the entire group, there are only about 2 people who meet your standard for ego.
Crossle
Breh, I was just stating how I felt. If I want to approach someone about their car I will. I am glad I stopped as I got to see some neat iron I haven't seen before in person. I go to exotic car shows hoping to see some older iron, not the MAG parking lot. There was what I expected at both ends of the spectrum. Think about this as well, since hardly anyone on this website has met you I presume other than the IPS community, you have left a horrible impression on a lot of people. What am I supposed to want to say to you? I don't talk big on this site and I am certainly not going to start now. I am glad I stopped, I would like to go back again perhaps on an event that the weather was a little nicer in hopes to see a different crowd that was not present. I'm not saying you needed to say anything to me; or anyone. Just that you should before saying that the vibe was a certain way. If I have left a horrible impression on some people, that's great, because it means that I would have had no interest in speaking with them in person since logic and facts irritate them. I was just trying to extend the perverbial 'olive branch' to you the next time you come to a meet since I believe you came away with an incorrect conclusion to the meet's atmosphere and since you felt somewhat 'excluded', that's all. Crossle
Why does someone have to communicate with another person to get a vibe? I didn't come in here and say everyone there was a dick, I just stated how I felt. There was no bashing on the meet, I stated I would attend again. Like I said, just trying to be courteous.

SpaceGhost
I'm grateful for you guys getting together every now and again and letting some of us gawk at your toys. I know I don't see hardly any of those cars in person, so being able to take my kids to an event like this and have an appreciation and a teaching moment to explain it will take a lot of hard work and luck for them to own or even just drive one, is awesome for me. I just wish some of the guys that own these cars get that when in public. I mean there is a bit of luck involved. Theres a reason these cars are rare. Right now I hope my kids have the same passion in the future I have for cars and maybe it drives them to try to do well.

Even my 108,000 mile Saab has better paint (and I've never gone past the occasional wax) My paint for comparison. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c161/spedponcho/DSC00117.jpg

You need approval from a governing body to get-together with other car guys for coffee? :lolguy: First rule of Cars and Coffee is...you don't talk about Cars and Coffee. Second rule of C&C is... YOU DO NOT TAWK ABOUT CARS AND COFFEE :lolguy:

You need permission from the guys either in CA or MN to call your gathering that; that's all.
