Fubar231
Im looking to find a pistol grip shifter with a handle like this (Not the gay ass finish, just that style in black/silver) http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj210/red_rattler/034.jpg Does anybody know where i can get one that'll fit the T56 in my camaro? I specifically want one with the thumb rest on the top, i dont want a all straight one. Also had one more question. Has anyone ever heard of someone heating up there shifter (The actual bar that goes into the trans) at the top and bending it forward. Like giving it a 10 degree bend forward so my hands not straight up but slightly forward. Or another idea, get the shifter/shift knob i want (Which i believe is off a new challenger) and cut mine and weld the new one too it. That way ill get the forward tilt and the knob i want. Anyone heard of anything like this?
Benner
Everything I'm seeing suggests that it's a mopar shifter style that's offered specifically for the Challenger. You may be able to find an ebay knock off and get it drilled an tapped for the correct threads. http://www.dalescudashop.com/20chsepigrsh.html
Fubar231
Yeah thats the style i want. This one/style specifically, just in black not CF. http://www.jimsautoparts.com/MP-P5155458.jpg Guess ill go look around ebay and see if i can find something. Does anybody know the thread for the camaro t56 shifter?
Benner
After searching some more seems like it's known as the "gunslinger carbon fiber pistol grip shifter" you can get in in other trims as well.
Cordell
You don't look very hard do you? 5 minutes of looking and i found that picture you posted is of a Mopar part http://www.modernmuscleperformance.com/MOPAR_PERFORMANCE_PISTOL_GRIP_SHIFTER_MANUAL_p/p5155458.htm "Hurst Pistol Grip Shift lever which is offered exclusively through Mopar!" Now the next question would be could it be made to work, so you need to know what thread pitch is on the factory shifter. So i googled that, and found this http://www.lxforums.com/board/f77/shifter-knob-thread-size-204872/ which says 8x1.25 on the factory late model mopars So what is a factory f-body? I just happen to know it 16x1.50 but google would tell you the same thing. So you either have to widdle down your factory shifter and rethread it for 8x1.25 or come up with another idea. Although these look nice. http://www.modernmuscleperformance.com/Billet_Pistol_Grip_Shifters_p/10060.htm Next time take 5-10 minutes and use that lump 3 feet above your ass, your lack of internet knowlege abounds and its getting annoying, try harder not to be so lazy. Ive been looking around but didnt search for the thread pitch cause i didnt know thats what it was exactly called lol. Ill look around for one in 16 x 1.50 in the style i want, but if not start thinking of other ideas.
Fubar231
What do you guys think about using a 16x1.50 to 10x1.50 adapter or whatever i would need for the mopar handle? Anyone know where i could get something like that?

So unlike a pussy that expands when a dick is bigger then it is, a 16x1.50 threaded rod has a bigger diameter then a 8x1.25 and therefor is too big of a dick to fit in the hole. Now maybe you want to buy a new shifter knob and drill out the hole and tap it for 16x1.50 possibly damaging it?

If i did do this i would see if a machine shop could possibly do it so i don't fuck it up like i would. I just wouldn't want to spend a shitload on a shift knob to try and do this and have it not work, im not one of the people that can afford to do shit like that. Steve R.
Why all the work for something you shouldn't be looking at while driving anyway? http://www.jegs.com/p/JEGS-Performance-Products/JEGS-Pistol-Grip-Shift-Handles/961981/10002/-1 Any of these or the Hurst grips and a modified ws6store short stick and you would be good to go. The Jegs handles do have a forward tilt to them.
trix-storm
You will end up hating it. Stock tear drop with a ripper shifter is where it's at

Fubar231
Ive decided to just give up on the idea. Ill stick with the stock Hurst one. I dont want to spend $100+ on just trying to get a shift knob to fit. Or buying a $100 one and ruining it in the process.
Steve R.
do you even have an aftermarket shifter?
Fubar231
Nope. Havn't really found one i like. I sat in someones car with the Pro 5.0 or Ripper cant remember but i fucking HATED it.
Steve R.
Nope. Havn't really found one i like. I sat in someones car with the Pro 5.0 or Ripper cant remember but i fucking HATED it. The Pro5.0 with the ws6store short stick moves things closer to the passenger side of the vehicle. Noticeable at first but easy to get used to. The stick that comes with the Pro5.0 is close to stock, but too tall for my tastes. I currently have one in my car, never went to the wrong gate. The Ripper keeps it closer to the stock location, but is as long of a handle as stock. Also the handle can not be changed as it is all one piece from knob to where it moves the cup in the transmission. - Had one in my LT1, but it felt like you were swinging a bat and I watched someone perform a 3-2 shift at the top of 3rd because it felt like 4th. I definitely recommend getting an aftermarket shifter, the centering springs help alot, but its the travel stops that allow you to shift hard and not bend/break things.
