Custom-fitted Paint Protection Film

I had Julius installed one on the Solstice this past Monday. Busted out the EZ UP so the front of the car could sit on the driveway without too much sun but still there was daylight; my garage is kinda dark and too cluttered.

The bumper is covered in almost one piece if it wasn't for the lip in the bottom. Headlights are covered in one piece each. The windshield frame is in 3 pieces; there is no need to waste so much material. The wing mirrors are also in 3 pieces to ensure more coverage. Additional pieces are for the pockets of the exterior door handles.

Finally, peace of mind :)

Julius' last name is Poa. He indeed cuts the film on the car by hand; no cutting plotter. He used to use pre-cut kits but that's many years ago when paint protection film started to emerge.

How well does the film hold up over time? I would assume the thin plastic would allow dust to eventually dull it. Is this for a daily or one that gets washed as often as its driven?

Holds up fine. I've seen some pretty old stuff that's dulled due to lack of care, but our old 2003 minivan is still in the family and never ever cared for and the bra on it looks brand new. Just saw it today in fact.

Washing and dust wouldn't hurt the film. The one on the Z06 (VentureShield installed by AAP) has so much smearing and streaking from cones at an autox and it will continue to get beat up. So, yes, it's tough and holds up just fine against mere washing/dust/daily wear.

The film used on the B302 and on the Solstice is 3M. This is the film Julius uses nowadays.

Honestly, I don't care how the film looks; all I want is to preserve the paint beneath. The pieces on the Z06 are never waxed/corrected and I believe they are not supposed to be buffed. The 3M film can probably be waxed, but then again I couldn't care any less.

What did he charge? I'm interested in having mine done.

The price varies due to vehicle and amount of coverage. The price he charged me would not tell you much of anything in regards to the cost to install it on your vehicle.
