Where's the best place to get guns appraised?

My mom has a few guns from when my Dad used them years ago. He can't use them now so she was looking at how much they would go for.. From memory:

.308 Winchester Savage model 99c. Lever action with a scope (used it for hunting in PA). She has the cartridges too with them.. two cartridges that holds 6 shells each?

Marlin .22 rifle. can't remember the model or s/n. has a small scope on it. bolt action.

She lives in Westerville and I wrote all the model numbers down for her. She was going to go to Aumillers gunshop in uptown Westerville to see how much they're worth.

I googled the model numbers and the 308 winchester was around a grand online and the .22 was roughly $100.

As for the first gun you listed

http://www.chuckhawks.com/savage_99.htm

Its a Savage 99c, chambered in .308

Check to see if its numbers match:

A few notes to those who might consider the purchase of an older 99. All older models have matching numbers on the fore end, butt plate, butt stock and bottom of the receiver. The model is stamped in front of the receiver just behind the fore end. For example EG, R, or other variations.

find the manufacture date here:

possibly more info here:

gunbroker listings:

Marlin .22's are pretty inexpensive. Probably shoot for $150 to be honest, someone might pick it up on http://www.armslist.com/ pretty quick. If I had any money to spare I'd pick it up, I'd like a .22
