Yes, you read that correctly, but it's not what you may be thinking..the word on the street is that there have been leaked photos of the C7. Mainly just CAD images, but I figured it's worth posting here for all the 'Vette and GM enthusiasts to see. Some images were taken down already, but these options are believable.

It's already been discussed that it'll have direct injection, and rumored that ZF transmissions is working on the driveline. It's even very hush hush for the dealerships, the Gill family just got back from a private GM meeting and not much more was shown to them then what is in the magazines lately.

Anyone else notice that in the first pic of the motor up there, the throttle body is off to the side and theres a pulley right next to it. Factory supercharged?

Supposedly a few of the models will be 6.2L factor supercharged

A friend of mine who is an engineer at gm (and has actually driven a c7) says that one of the renderings that has been shown is very near the exact car.

He won't confirm or deny the taillights but tells me I will like them in person... So I dunno

I would like that job

yea... it is a BA job that's for sure. Not hte highest paid design engineer... but the perks are nice if you're a car guy. He gets to drive BA cars for a living. For them "endurance testing" of things is to literally go on 200-500 mile road trips...

He is now on the Camaro development team, working TC systems for ZL1/Copo/etc...

He was telling me htat one day they wanted to confirm an issue with the TC system on the zl1 when burnouts happened (didnt want cars TC systems to go haywire if the owner took it ot the track)... so he literally did a 90 second burnout at the proving grounds. He said it actually dug a depression into the pavement, hahaha.

I used to have this job on the supplier side. It's actually not hard to find this position. My old company was having trouble finding people about a year ago. As a result, they hired their first test engineer that did not have an engineering degree.

Someone posted this pretty bold info on the vette forums... kind of interesting even if not accurate...

Here you go: got from a corvette insider

Base C7 Coupe/Convertible: 6.2L DOHC, VVT, V8 530hp, choice of 7-speed manual or DCT transmission. Weight is 3185 pounds. 0-60 in 3.3 sec (7 speed) and 3.0 sec (DCT) Interior quality will be that of a Cadillac CTS-V with a traditional dual cockpit design with (take a deep breath) a 2+2 configuration. Yes, the base C7 will have small back seats (similar to Porsche). However, take a deep breath, there is a factory delete option for those of you who do not want the rear seats. Resulting from extensive market research was the fact that most young professionals do not buy corvettes, not because they don't appeal to them, but because they are not viewed as family friendly (i.e. can only accommodate two people). Therefore, the intention for the 2+2 design was to appeal to a larger demographic (i.e. young professionals with children) Seats are Recaro (similar to the ones used on the Nissan GTR). Jalopnik is accurate (minus all the visual functional vents) but proportions/overall looks are off in the illustrations. That being said, the Camaro comparisons will stop when the car is seen in person. When you see it in person, you will think you are looking at a Ferrari (think Ferrari 599 but more aggressive) Approx $60-70k price depending on options you choose. This base C7 has outperformed the C6 ZO6 at the Milford Proving ground track (with full camo on it!!). I was there and I was shocked at how easily it handled the C6 Z06. Finally, and this should make you traditionalists happy, the base C7 model will reintroduce the "Stingray" nameplate. Yes, the base Corvette will be call "Stingray" (all one word like the C3 Corvette generation not "Sting Ray." The standard Corvette cross-flags will be used (the transformers emblems will not be used). This Corvette, from a technology and design standpoint, will appeal to young professionals. The Stingray name is being used to reintroduce the legendary corvette brand to a new generation of enthusiasts.

Grand Sport (aka widebody Corvette): Will not be produced. The C7 generation will not have a wide-body variation. There will only be one body.

Corvette Z06: This will shock most people, but the ZO6 nameplate will not be used for the C7 or C8 generation. Keep your C6 427 Z06/427 Convertibles!!! C6 427s are expected to become collectors items. No more 427s…ever. No more naturally aspirated pushrod motors for GM.

Corvette ZR1: 6.2L Twin Turbo V8. 730hp. Available with 7-speed transmission or a re-geared DCT transmission. 0-60 in 2.9 sec (7-speed) and 2.7 sec (DCT). Will not be a wide-body but will have more aggressive styling to include what you are seeing on the Jalopnik renderings. Interior is similar to base model C7 with lighter seats, door panels, and more use of carbon fiber. All ZR1s will be two seaters (no rear seats on the ZR1). The car weights 2989 pounds! How? Through the use of carbon fiber roof (which is painted this time)/fenders/hood/rear hatch/and even doors! There is extensive use of aluminum, nano steel components, lexan rear window like Porsche GT2/3 rs. Floorboards are nano steel vice carbon and balsa wood. Overall engine and transmission weight is down 75 pounds (50 pounds with DCT). Initial tests (in full camo) suggest it is the 2nd fastest production car EVER tested behind only the Bugatti Veyron. Price: 120k-140k depending on options.

It sounded like he knew what he was talking about until he started talking about the elimination of the widebody. My buddy and I talked about exactly this, he had said to me "why would htey go backwards" when I mentioned the c5's did not offer widebody, but hte c6z and GS did" (I was actually hoping the base would be a wide body as well).... so either my buddy is toying with me (possible) or the above info is not right...

Talked to my buddy about this... here is what he said...

I'd love to know what this "Corvette insider"'s connection is because it sure doesn't sound like he is inside anything except a closet. Some stuff could be true, ;), some stuff could be completely bogus. I'll let you squirm over which could be which.

Lots of things are going that way because of emisions with the cat. The closer the cat the better it works.

They also pass a water jacket around the exhaust passages which helps get the car up to temp quicker for better emissions.

Everybody will be going this way shortly.

Does anyone have a rough release month for the C7 unveiling? I'm getting excited already. This is potentially going to be the new GT-R in my eyes. A supercar type performance at a fraction of the cost. Hopefully it holds true about the interior!! I'd love to see a great interior in a Vette.
