The_buster
I traded my civic coupe for a 96 Nissan Maxima. Its a 5spd 148k miles. Best part is that its a 4 door. Needs a front windshield or maybe it can be fixed, other than that just some plugs and a bath. heres some pics. At least its not burning anything. http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/61647_10100596745459602_762498815_n.jpg http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/29624_10100596745549422_1485064342_n.jpg http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/552172_10100596745649222_469389014_n.jpg http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/402414_10100596745409702_396419467_n.jpg

Green Bastard
Seems like a step up from the civic, and those motors can be dead reliable when taken care of. If you ever need help working on it, I'd be happy to lend a hand. I used to have a z31 turbo (same engine, different setup).

-Alex-
I see a braided steel hose, an open element filter, and some spray painted red parts. Not a bad way to spend $25.
-Alex-
For real though, I hope it's reliable and works out well for you after reading about how shitty your Civic was. It definitely looks haggard, but if it hasn't been rigged up too bad I think it was a good trade.

The_buster
It has a vq35 bottom end in it. Not sure what all that entails... but it rides smooth and has way more power than I'm used too.. I like it and the wife wants an auto one. Way bigger than the altima. Green Bastard
It has a vq35 bottom end in it. If the guy you bought it off told you this, he was lying. The vg30 heads won't bolt up to the vq35 block.
The_buster
The vq is a 3.5L. Right? It runs and drives and is way better than either civic. Any one know a good decent place for windshields? It has a crack about a foot long coming from the top and then goes about 8-10" to the left on the driver side. Green Bastard
I was mistaken, that is a vq30 (according to Wikipedia), its a 3.0 though.
nismopc
Specific to Maxima's ONLY. 3.5 (VQ35DE) is in the 2002-2003 Maxima's and newer. Your engine shot is clearly a 3.0 (VQ30DE). There was no swap done on said car and the 3.5 bottom does not mate with the 3.0 top. But that being said, the VQ30 is a freaking beast and almost bullet proof. Does well with supercharger... The_buster
I watched some videos of turboed and supercharged ones on dynos.. maybe down the road. For now I just want it to be reliable. Maybe put some rims on it but that's it.
10phone2
pass on the rims and put the money towards maintenance on the car.

Otis Nice
the maxima Except the entire car... :lolguy: The Maxima I'd like to offer you some more advice as someone who has owned beaters more often than not: Don't come to CR looking for a pat on the back, logical help, or anything of the sorts if your car is a POS (and you have the common sense to recognize such). These are the responses you're most likely to get. Good luck with the car. Hope it works out for ya.
Not Brian
Just messing with him, I'd almost rather have something like that over my $367/mo payment.
10phone2
next time around when you are buying a daily beater. I would recommend finding out what are the common problems for the car(easily fixable and if tools are available), if parts are available without giving an arm, and if you can find message boards specific for the car to help.
