Finally starting a project

After much debate and lengthy time off from the car scene I'm going to get myself into a fun car this spring. In February of this year I bought an 82 Mustang that was a rolling pile of fail. It didn't run, didn't stop, looked like crackheads had lived inside and had only one thing going for it: the ebrake didn't work and it could easily be pushed off of a cliff.

Since February it now has clean interior (headliner, seats, wheel, hurst shifter and a new handle - thanks mike), runs well and stops. I also slapped a rat-rod style paint job on it to keep it safe and I thought looked pretty cool.

Plans are to:

Get an official paint job (I would like opinions on color)

5 lug swap

CCW wheels (fat meatz)

Flared fenders (already have a preform kit)

heads/cam/intake

Flared fender kit I have and CCW's will look something like this:

I'm going to have the CCW's be gunmetal with polished lips. I can't decide on what color I want to make the car...

I'm thinking a purple, satin white (black trim/accents) or satin grey. What do you guys think?

Was hoping this would be for the Dart. :fa:

I'd go with a gloss gray with black trim.

Dart LOL. I don't have enough money (to waste) on making that go fast.

I will keep that color in mind I'm going to try and photoshop them and get a feeler.

Can't wait to see this thing with the fender flares!

Me too. I haven't seen any fox in person with these done yet.

Said no one ever :gabe:

  • 2 months later...

I've resurrected the turd and began on the interior plastic and vinyl. Had years of smoke and cigarette marks on it (who throws a lit butt on the dash?)

I'm going to try restoring the dash before replacing just because I found some cool stuff on youtube. I've used some "plastic welding" kit with some success and it's fun to mess with. Here's what I pulled out of the car:

Welded and cleaned up.

This is one piece I did last week from start to finish. Welded a crack on it, sanded lightly, primed, painted, sanded and painted.

Im sure you can hustle yourself a new interior for cheap :gabe:

You're in my party right now, dude. This is my temple. This is where I come to find peace to all. You comin' in here like an emotional bull in a china shop, metaphorically knockin' over vases, messing with my thread.
