Never knew the car has a 3.13 rear gear. Is that factory? 4th 1:1 in your trans?

Yes to the 3.13 rear gear. No to the 4th being 1:1

From Wiki

V160 Ratios:

First gear: 3.827:1

Second gear: 2.360:1

Third gear: 1.685:1

Fourth gear: 1.312:1

Fifth gear: 1:1

Sixth gear: 0.793:1

Awesome writeup and thanks for your kind words, Chris. I can't wait to see what's in store for you and this car next!

Methinks a pile of BPA goodies :) I will know more once the BPA driveway is put in! lol

Ah, makes sense-gearing is about perfect really with a 3.13

Now you can really feel my pain with a 4.11, 4th 1:1, and 6k rpm redline.

Hope to see you car make a few more passes in 2015

Ewwww talk about shift city. I am very glad for the supra's long gears. Makes life a lot easier when you have the gearing to trap 185 in 4th.

I drove the car around yesterday to make sure the fuel pumps were still happy. They are, so I tossed the drag pack in the corner and threw the old CCW's back on for a winter nap. Its unreal how much weight difference there is between those CCW's vs alumastars!

I am hoping to get some dyno time this fall to turn up the boost. I want to go race, but I realize the tilton only lives so long. With the car trapping 140-144, its not going to get a whole lot quicker than the 10.04 I ran already. I think putting it aside until it can make all the power its capable seems to be the smart play.

I will stick by my previous assessment. The car wasn't crazy out of the hole, but it definitely was no slouch. I look forward to cheering on some of my other buddies this fall at the IFO in Columbus.

Depressingly, I don't think its going to get a lot faster until I get the new fuel pump on the car. Ran a 10.15 last time at street night in June. Last night I did 10.04 off the trailer (Slip below on spray) and 10.36 after that. Bottles were low and the N20 did not arm on the second pass. Neither were very clean passes, however the car is leaving better. 2-3 shifting is no problem. Dialing in the launch is proving difficult as expected, but I don't see any crazy low hanging fruit to be had.

Sad, but understandable.

You should bring it to the "car show" at Brubakers Oct 3rd :) Roll-ons wont hurt the clutch, much. :p

Truthfully the only thing that has kept it off the road this year is that the turn signals decided to quit working. I haven't really dug into why, so no serious road time lol.

'tis a sad state of affairs.

Luckily, I was able to talk to Larry at SP and get an appointment to get the car's tune touched up for more power in 2 weeks. Now begins the rush to do all the final checks required to get the car in top shape for the dyno.

10/16 we will see if she is ready to make the big power numbers or if something else is not ready for the 8889's torment

Is he coming up or are you shipping the car down there?

Well got some decent fuel in the tank, swapped plugs and did a compression test. Engine is level across cylinders, but was surprisingly low number (I am guessing due to the cam overlap)

Old plugs that came out:

10 passes, and 5-6 dyno pulls from this year. I have not replaced the plugs since it was up and running last fall.

Left to right Cyl #1-2-3-4-5-6

Waiting on it to warm up for the compression test with the battery maintainer in place:

Re-installed the Angry Aero shutters on the car along with the weld alumastar front runners. I did a lot of last minute touches last night (wiping the dust off, removing junk, etc.)

Hoping for a great day Friday at SP!

Dyno video:

The car had issues with the alternator keeping up with the load that the new MF 4703 is demanding on top of my current fuel system and all other electrical powered items. I plan to replace/rebuild this shortly. I swapped another alternator the shop had on the shelf on the car, and it seemed happier.

The track rental was also cancelled Sunday due to weather concerns. Hope to get the car back together for next weekend.

All in all, I'm not exactly happy with the 88's ability to make power without some form of race fuel (Ignite 114, VP import, etc) so I am going to sell the turbo and drop back to my old 4780 or perhaps another turbo. Debating on a manifold change this winter as well.

Here are some photos from SP:

4780 with a 3.4 was the best Combo on Jamies Car. Hope to see you out next week!

I just ordered an alternator... lets see how frisky we can get with this and some good voltage.

Hoping it pulls like a freight train with the upgraded alt

And I hope old EL ESS JUAN makes the trip!
