My main concern with it and why I think it may've not taken off, two-fold.

 

1. Safety. I would be a bit concerned driving anywhere with a crosswind. For an old bug with no power that camper can't weight shit plus, the tow hitch's center is far off the ground attached to the highest part of the bug. Just how strong is the roof, too?

 

2. Hippies don't use fuckin' campers nor can they afford them.

 

Done deal.

Probably never took off because every car is a different height, and the trailer (Like the one in the video) has to be made a certain height to hook onto the car properly. Think about how much trouble someone with a slightly lifted truck would have, then think about trying to hook that same trailer up to a little S10. The hitch point (Roof height) changes too drastically to make it useable. You could have the hitch point change height if you needed it too but then it probably wouldnt be as strong or sturdy.
