Xyster101
So my father in-law informed me that the past 2 weeks he had logged 137 hours, with last Saturday off only. So we have put in 275 hours in 2 weeks together! Today the brother in-law was helping along with my wife. Wife was shooting nails, carrying 2x8x16 rafters and working like a champ! http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/Garage/2013-08-30171251-Copy_zps0055c5c7.jpg http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/Garage/2013-08-30171348-Copy_zps0d2311a0.jpg Finished up tonight around 8 pm. That attic area is where the storage will be for the mower, ATV, and other items. http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/Garage/2013-08-30194419-Copy_zps39ceafe2.jpg
Farkas
Great work, I can't believe how fast you're bringing this together!
Fubar231
Great work, I can't believe how fast you're bringing this together! This! Especially with it being just you and your FIL. Great work too! Really looking forward to seeing the finished product. Do you have any plans on coating the cement floor with anything? I know some peoples garages have coatings over them that make them smooth/easier to clean up and whatnot.

Xyster101
I have been really busy here. I started work (teaching) at an inner city school, and the kids are rough. I will get the hang of it eventually, but it is like pushing a rope. Put 2" foam down for under the slab because radiant heating is going in. The roof is put up, the soffets and facia still need to go up. I need to order siding next, doing board and baton. Got the area all back filled and seeded for grass. Still a long way to go. Hoping to pour the slab Columbus day weekend. I also need to dig the trench for the utilities. http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/2013-09-07145937_zps8e404dbe.jpg http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/2013-09-07145956_zps372e4879.jpg http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/2013-09-07150041-Copy_zps54e33ed6.jpg http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/2013-09-07150142-Copy_zpsfb8f4d88.jpg
Das Borgen
radiant heat? using pipes in a S pattern ? or heating wire/cable? also you planning on epoxy coating? What kind? my friend in the Navy in VA just finished this yesterday
zeitgeist57
Amazing work, Max! i love that it looks like you can load stuff into the attic using ramps from the top of the hill to the back opening of the garage. The area reminds me of my high school days in Niskayuna. That's a beautiful area you're living in now.

Fubar231
also you planning on epoxy coating? What kind? This is what i was talking about, didnt know it was epoxy. Stuff can make a garage look really nice, and make it easier to clean. If that is the rustolem stuff from lowes, it looks nice now, but it will come up. I believe the stuff were talking about isnt made by Rustoleum, but i could be wrong. I think your thinking of the like paint on stuff, that almost feels rubbery or so when done, and that stuff will peel up super easy. Drive a car over it too soon and the tires will bring it all up. Xyster101
Been busy with work. Teaching inner city is tough. This weekend I am pouring the floor. I am almost done with the radiant heat tubes. I did 4 loops roughly 250' long each. They are zip tied to the wire mesh. http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/Garage/2013-09-24193942_zps9af8ae71.jpg http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/Garage/2013-09-17184054_zps4f355968.jpg Had to make a PEX unroller or the 1,000' of tubing goes nuts http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/Garage/2013-10-08192019_zps7dcce2fd.jpg
Xyster101
Holy heck was this weekend busy. We have poured 12 yards of concrete so far with another 6 coming tomorrow. Floor is finished, but I did not take pictures of that yet. Also started to install Facia and Soffets, those take forever. http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/Garage/2013-10-12101908_zpsd3d5010e.jpg http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/Garage/2013-10-12120706_zps28a80e66.jpg http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/Garage/2013-10-13104715_zpsc0baf9c6.jpg

Xyster101
I am not going to do the epoxy coating, I am just sealing it with a concrete sealer. Finished up the soffets and facia this weekend. It is 52 feet long and straight as an arrow! Looks great and took a while. Also finished the concrete work and installed a window and door. http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/Garage/2013-10-16174213-1_zps57c8dbbb.jpg http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/Garage/2013-10-16174333_zpsab70de33.jpg
Xyster101
Been kicking ass on this thing and working my ass off at work. Installed the garage door myself, what a nightmare. I should have hired it. It is 18' wid, 8' tall, has the wind package which means double hindges and braces. It also has 2 springs that require 8.5 turns (normal is 7). Took 13 hours so far to install and wind the springs. http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/Garage/2013-11-04203716_zps936560b7.jpg Windows installed in 2 hours for both: http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/Garage/2013-11-02162235_zps0aaed57a.jpg Had someone due the gutters. If you do gutters get the 4x3 larger downspouts, they clog less. http://i462.photobucket.com/albums/qq342/xyster101/Garage/2013-11-05162533_zps691bf2b9.jpg
