-Alex- Posted September 10, 2013 Report Share Posted September 10, 2013 Well, after about a 7 month search for a new garage ornament and lots of disappointments, I fell into a right place right time situation and couldn't be happier. Picked up a '69 Dart GTS clone over the weekend. The story was a man built the car in 2007-2008, got sick around 2011 and put it in storage, then passed away shortly after. His widow asked their ex son-in-law to sell it for her, and I was the first person there. It's set up more for the track or cruising town than the highway, but I plan to make some changes to make it more highway friendly. It came with a large stack of reciepts and notes that have been really helpful. The car was done well, but sitting in storage took a small toll on the cleanliness of it, so I've been spending most of my time cleaning on it. There's some bad bodywork showing on the passenger lower quarter, otherwise it's pretty mint. I plan on changing the '68 stripe to the correct '69 stripe when the quarter is addressed. Definitely plan on changing the valve covers and air cleaner as well as cleaning up some wiring, but that'll be lower on the priority list. A 6.1 with a 6 speed would be tits mcghee, but I doubt there will be any major drivetrain changes for a while aside from the gear. Since it's not a factory GTS and already fairly modded, I don't really care too much about originality. Hopefully just have some fun with it and maybe try out a few different configurations.
