speedwolf02
alright well im from michigan and there is a helmet law, i know there is not one ohio but i wasnt sure if you have to have a certain amount of riding or not in order to not wear one.. i plan on wearing mine all the time but if i want to make a quick buzz down the street and not need one, i wasnt sure what the laws were
chrisknight
When I got my license, there wasn't a time limit. If you had your license, you didn't have to wear a helmet if you didn't want to. Now, I think you have to wait a year after you get your license, then you don't have to wear one...I could be wrong...By the way, you always need one... Pedro
Looks like you have to wear it for at least a year. I agree with chrisknight though, you always need one... Better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it.....http://home.ama-cycle.org/amaccess/laws/result.asp?state=OH

magley64
1 yr "novice" rule applies...operator and any passenger MUST wear a helmet for 1 year upon completion of the on cycle test...
AOW
just a quick trip down the street is when the most accidents happen.I was hit by two cars .9 miles from where I was staying, and .1 miles from the destination. Wear the helmet. You're an out of stater, so they won't give you any shit if not wearing a helmet as long as you have your MC stamp.
jporter12
just a quick trip down the street is when the most accidents happen.I just saw this a week ago! Quick trip down the road, inexperience, ended into the wall of the shop. Even just down the driveway, I wear my helmet!
jporter12
I think there was a study that said something about a large percentage of crashes happen within 20 miles of home. Makes sense, due to the fact that most people don't go all that far if they don't have to (must not be on a bike!)
kinkinhood
Even accidents at 5 miles per hour can be devastating if your head is one of the first things to hit. There is never a moment when a helmet should be looked at as optional.
