Ackbar00
A guy I work with, his brother helped make this. Looks to be a nice piece. http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2014/01/01/remington-announces-r-51-pistol/ http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/R51-BeautyShot-660x621.jpg

copperhead
It's a VERY common shape, so it easily looks like a dozen different guns. The only one that it has anything actually in common with is the Remington Model 51 from 100 years ago. Internal hammer is kinda weird for me, but with a non-tilting barrel and the locked breech design, it's suppose to be very soft recoil and very accurate. And for a $389 MSRP, I really want to get my hands on one.

sol740
I have to admit that I find that design, and similar designs to be fugly. However, the operation and price intrigue me enough that I could see myself owning one.

However, the operation and price intrigue me enough that I could see myself owning one. I agree with your first statement. It Has zero appeal to me but I also Will not be looking into one regardless of the operation and price. Furloaf
Not sure about the separated chamber. My intuition is that it can only work for low pressure ammunition, just like simple blowback designs. Is there really a benefit? Edit: I'm an idiot that didn't watch the video. The pictures made it look like a 2-piece design.

copperhead
GunBlast.com Review The smooth edges, size, caliber and price is going to make a solid CCW Contender... KillJoy Exactly. They are getting a .40 close to market, and have said that they can easily scale this up to .45 as was also done with the original. Interesting note - the original Model 51 in .45 would have replaced the M1911 in the military had WWI not gotten in the way.
JaSSon
Pros/cons of this vs the M&P Shield?
copperhead
It's slightly cheaper than a shield. Slightly heavier than a shield. Has no pointy edges. Is an uncommon design, so will have to wait and see if it's reliable. Very little recoil, although the shield isn't bad either. If the Remington is out in time I'm getting one for the gf for v-day, so after that you can compare the two yourself.
1fast5gp
Getting a good Remington product is like the luck of the draw these days. Pros would be cheaper than a shield. Big con would be if you had to deal with Remington CS.
