Mr. Jones
I'll save Jordan the copy paste: GTR Excuses: GTR went into retard limp mode on 91 octane piss. Z/28 is wearing 305 Square 80TW Trofeo R's GTR is wearing 255/285 200TW OEM Runflats. Let the hate being to flow.

The Camaro is wearing 305 R compound rubber all around and can pull 1.5G, it has massive carbon brakes and Multimatic suspension. But it also has no sound deadening, no floor mats, no carpet or trim in the trunk, no A/C, and a 1 speaker radio. The Z/28 is a $75k one-trick-pony track car, while the GTR is a ridiculously fast, livable, year round daily driver (and Kirk proved it). wagner
Oh the hate for anything GM just flows, I love it. I guess if it was anything else that beat a GTR or was a one trick deal people would be fapping all over it After seeing the Z/28 in person, the car looks damn nice. The only thing I did not like about it is how the wheels just don't fill out the fenders enough, but its a function over form thing. Now, I'm not hating on the GTR, you would be a fool to deny it is an impressive machine. I would rock one with no fucks given. But for me, there is something about that Camaro/Mustang/Vette V8 feelz and sounds that I love. I have a soft spot for brutal cars.
Second Gen
For a guy that owned many GM's (Nova, Grand Prix, El Camino) I also love Japanese and Euro cars. This new Camaro is cool looking, sounding as well as sport impressive stats. Not sure I want to support / pay for the crazy expensive brakes or the overall price tag ($75K). Would love to see the bow tie be hollowed out on all the Chevy's (It is too big / goofy anyway). Glad to see GM continue to get better and push the overall market in the right direction. Always a little concerned looking at future (Sci Fi) movies when they show cars auto driving. Would really hate loosing one of items that helps me unwind driving to / from work. Weekends are also a blast. Go GM
Mallard
Don't get me wrong, the car is an amazing performer, it's a performance value, and I have no doubt it's fun to drive, but I see a ton or people posting this video and using to hail the car as a GTR destroyer, when that's not true at all. The Z/28 is a stripped of Camaro that was built with one purpose: to turn fast lap times. They took weight from everywhere they could, fitted 305 R compound rubber all around, added downforce, equipped it with a track suspension that will ride harsh on the street, and used the C7 Z06 carbon ceramic brakes. Then C&D makes this video and everyone hails it as a GTR beater, even though it's 1.3 seconds slower to 60 mph, 1.3 seconds and 8 mph slower in the 1/4 mile, and it took 3 extra feet to stop 60-0, even though it's riding on 305 R comps. But, hey, it's 0.3 seconds faster around a drying track that it got to run later in the day, so it's a fuking awesome world - beating performance car. The comparison to a GTR isn't fair, IMO, because the GTR is a livable, year-round, daily driver. But it also costs $50k more. The problem is, no one else makes a car like this. There is no Mustang R, the Challenger doesn't a have anything close to it (for now), and the European's don't either. I applaud GM for building it, and I hope it ignites a fire under other car maker's to compete in the performance arena. It's worthy car porn, but a GTR beater it is not. I agree with all of these points, but based on my experience in the media field, you need something like this for a "story". If I were doing the story I would 100% make the facts about known that you state above. The GTR is a smooth craft beer you drink to at a party full of smart people, the Z/28 is a shot of Jack Daniels you get in a dirty glass before you do stupid shit with your friends. Each has a purpose and does it damn well. I would love to see Ford and Mopar put something like this out and mix it up. Bring back the roots of Trans Am racing... caseyctsv
I agree this is an apples to oranges comparison but it is still fun to watch. Good God the LS7 sounds amazing. If I had to drive it everyday I would take the GTR, though I have heard they are brutally stiff on the street. If I wanted a play toy, I would consider the Z/28 but then pass on it for a C7. I applaud GM for having the balls to do it but I am struggling coming up with the market for this car.

ImUrOBGYN
Ralph Gilles may've let it slip recently that the new Barracuda could have more HP than the Viper. Of course, it won't be nearly as light, etc, but still impressive.

Mr. Jones
Don't think that I'm hating on the Z/28 for one second, I'm thrilled it actually exists. I was just trying that line that anybody else would. Like drag racing 2 Corvettes, one with wider ET Streets and one with the stock goodyear tires. If someone proposed a race with Trofeo R's on the GTR and all seasons on the Z/28 I'd be loling at the comparison as well. We're comparing a car with it's sound deadening ripped out, thinner glass, 1 speaker (yes one speaker radio), no A/C unless optioned, and tires you'd be scared to drive over 40mph in the rain. The GTR has heated seats, backup camera, subwoofers, oh and tires you can drive on the highway when it's raining. And despite all that, the Z/28 lost at everything, except being .28 faster on a road course after the track had tried out a bit?
2highpsi
I'm not taking anything away from the Z28. It is a bad ass machine. I'm GLAD the domestic market is coming strong with stuff like this. Carbon brakes, tons of power, awesome tires. Without competition the market will remain stagnant. That being said, the GTR was ran with piss fuel so it kept going into reduced power mode. "Supposedly" it was not ran in R-R-R (which is game changing in power delivery and dynamics) And Randy Pobst was driving the car. He HATES understeer (and the GTR understeers on factory tires) It's like when Porsche bought a GTR, put their factory race driver in it, and ran a 7:50 Ring time, then started crying fowl. So Nissan put their driver back on the track with reporters galore and ran 20 seconds faster.
