Kenne Bell Mach 1 Progress

Figured I go ahead and make a thread on the things I am doing with the Mach 1. Ordered a lot of little things to clean up some things and to improve on what I didn't like.

 

Here is what we are starting with:

Installed an MGW shifter. I couldn't believe of all the things this car did have, it had a stock shifter, cable, quadrant, etc. Still waiting on the firewall adjuster and cable, but got the shifter in.

I really did not like how low the car sat, so I got a new set to lower it 1.5"s. So I got the old springs and what do you know, they are just cut stockers. Hopefully these new ones will ride a lot better.

That is it for now. Taking off the caliper covers and painting the brakes. Still have to do the rear springs and control arms.

Got some more done last night. Got the lower control arms (UPR) and rear springs in. Dont look like much, but took a few hours to do. Also worked on finishing up painting the calipers and brackets. Ill post pics of that when the brakes and rotors show up.

Also took out the A Piller gauge pod and Sunpro gauges out. Going to run a single Speedhut Boost gauge in a column pod. Hopefully that will be shipping soon. You can see the Raptor shift light in this shot as well.

Brakes came in last night, so I got them on and finished up painting the calipers. I pretty much hate anything other than silver and black when it comes to caliper colors. The rotors are from Ebay, Ive had good luck with them on my old turbo fox, so I got another set. I think they look great

Also got my "cold" air done. I thought the Kenne Bell vent thing was ugly as hell, so I came up with this. Its a 4" 45* and a 4" 90* coupler and a little smaller filter I had laying around. I think it looks better.

Made a bit more progress. Car is back on the ground and the new springs look great. Going to hold off showing much pictures of that as the car is pretty dirty. Once its all cleaned up, ill take a few good ones.

Next up, I guess the previous owner let his dog chew up some seat belts? So Got a few from teh Corral. Here is what the old ones looked like. Yikes!

Replaced the Radiator cover with a new stock black one to break up the skulls a bit.

Car came with a sub and amp tied into teh factory system. This is what it looked like. I might rewire it someday, but it works and I am afraid to touch much of it

Not what you want to hear now, but my supercharged mach1 ate those upr bushings for breakfast lunch and dinner... I just recently did the bullitt and did the pro series with spherical ends..

 

Hmmm, I dont plan on dragging this car as much as I did the turbo one. Hell I might never put slicks on it to tell the truth. Yours get beat up at the track or just street driving?

 

 

Boost gauge came in, working on that this week and then soon I can button up the interior and start cleaning this bitch. Also still need to paint my other coil covers and get them on as well.

 

Thanks guys, hopefully work pays off. So far, I think it is.

Was able to wrap a lot of it up today.

 

Wanted to change the spark plugs, as I didn't know what they were. So once that was done, I figured it was a good time to put the coil pack covers on. Think it all turned out good.

I also got the Speedhut and gauge pod installed. I also put some blue LED lights in the cluster. Looks bad ass!

Pretty much wraps up the mods. I got a new Mach 1 hood decal that has not been installed yet, but that is it. Going to get it cleaned up and some pics of everything here in a few days.

Well car did OK, just not what I was expecting/what I was lead to believe.

 

Right off the street, it made 345/301 at 4 psi

 

After tuning. 380/335 at 4 psi

 

Car really does run and drive much better with the new tune, just was a bit disheartened given I was told it made 470 before I touched it.

 

Car was a bit false advertised, and I'm not happy about that. Found parts on the car that were not what they said they were. Example

 

Claimed

60# Injectors

Big bore 90mm MAF

3.73 Gears

2" H&R Race Springs

 

Real

39#

Stock 03 Cobra MAF

Stock 3.55's

Cut Stockers

 

Things like that. Makes me wonder what else could be true or not. Oh well, I'm making the car my own, and its starting to get a lot better from what it was. If I wanted to stay in ultra fast, I would have kept my turbo fox

 

Only mods I can prove (Power Wise) are:

Kenne Bell BAP

Kenne Bell blower

Longtubes

X-pipe

Flowmaster catback

BBK Throttle Body

39# Injectors

Cobra MAF

 

Rest, not sure. At this point, just going to assume they are stock.

 

As far as power. You figure with given mods above, and stock power of 305, and mine at the flywheel is around 437 (Figuring 15% Driveline loss); at 4 psi, it does seem like its doing fairly well. Ricer math of 20HP per 1 psi is 80 HP, take that away and you got 357. Id think a stock Mach 1 with LT's, exhaust and intake, 50 Hp gain with tuning SOUNDS about right. But who knows....

 

I changed intake up a little bit. A new filter and shield from JLT. I called Kenne Bell and this kit is no longer being sold so I cant order a intercooler even if I wanted to. Might piece me together a Meth kit. New pulley is here, should be good for 7 psi. Going to retune it and see what it does this time.
