STEVE-O
We always would write 0 to the drive 5 times then drill through the drives afterwards.

macpyro2
Thermite. http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Thermite. I just bought a new SSD for my mac today, I was thinking about melting the old HD down into a mold with this method.
Avenger1647545502
My brother blasts them with his air cannon. A 16oz can with a muzzle velocity of approximately 800 feet per second will DEFINITELY make a hard drive irrecoverable. Tannerite is fun too. Coaster
just do it yourself, get a drill and drill through the casing in multiple locations Since it's not state secret stuff and the NSA already has all your data. Drill 3-4 holes through the platters, smash with a hammer a few times until you feel better. Done.

greg1647545532
Writing 0s to the drive once is sufficient to make all data unrecoverable. Anything beyond that is based on old technology combined with urban legend. eta: If they're older and you have no way to plug them in to wipe them, you can get some torx bits and dismantle them, remove the platters, and bend them in half. Technically some data could still be read, but it's incredibly unlikely that any actual information would be recoverable, and really, who would bother?
