Lauren
We added a second dog today. Our boxer is 5 years old. Last year we tried a pug but he wouldn't stopped marking the house and had some behavior issues. We rehomed him to a pug family. Now that our baby is 7 months old and life is back on track we picked up this little girl. She is an 8 week old Basset Hound. Our oldest daughter named her Petunia PuddleDuck. http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee254/ca18det007/Mobile%20Uploads/C97D9CEF-8B40-46CE-846A-A4081B4FB0BC_zps5i2nwqvu.jpg http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee254/ca18det007/Mobile%20Uploads/6846E038-83C2-4D14-B18E-41959E016A8D_zpsnn2tsl43.jpg Here's our boxer. Zero fucks given. Sweetest dog on earth and loves when my daughter dresses him up. http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee254/ca18det007/Mobile%20Uploads/2A280E05-48E7-407D-8739-A0017D20F21C_zpsa6kbbnoy.jpg

Dr. Pomade
I've owned several Bassett hounds and all of them have been great. They have all been piggies but great all around dogs. Love the name, too.
Lauren
Thanks. She is something else. Polar opposite from my boxer. I swear he is a mute. This little basset is LOUD. Her bay, whine and bark. It's day one and I get she misses her litter mates but the crying has to stop soon.
Radio Flyer1647545514
I have an English redtick coonhound and he is loud. Make sure your getting her plenty of exercise and she will quiet down. Another good thing is to teach her to bark/bay when you say. Congrats on your hound!

RedRocket1647545505
Should have named her Buckeye. I know it seems more like a male name, but still, it's clearly full of win (as you know).

Tshensley
out of curiosity, why not get a boxer pup? We have a boxer that is 6, and hes been awesome and i've just thought to get another to hopefully have similar results
Lauren
Boxer pup was out of the question. I had my boxer before my wife and oldest daughter. My wife loves our current boxer but overall not a fan of the breed. She wanted a dog without the energy and needs of a boxer. We compromised on a basset hound. When we buy our farm house next year I'll get my Great Dane LOL. Day 3 and everyone is acclimating extremely well. Even the cat is playing http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee254/ca18det007/Mobile%20Uploads/47F8B421-2523-431B-800C-0C5F82F5223C_zps459z9tkz.jpg http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee254/ca18det007/Mobile%20Uploads/47F8B421-2523-431B-800C-0C5F82F5223C_zps459z9tkz.jpg http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee254/ca18det007/Mobile%20Uploads/84530EE7-8AB7-469A-8873-5FB8446BBC67_zpszb6zmq2k.jpg

Lauren
Our boxer has the energy level of a sloth. He is atypical of the breed.
