PRD2BDF
I'm graduating in a few weeks with my Masters in Deaf Education. I am planning on celebrating it with a road trip. I want tk see the sights and go canoeing/kayaking/white water rafting (but not the hardcore ones) and camp in a stunning place. I know many of you are well-versed in travels so I came here for ideas. KillJoy +1 Beautiful drive down, nice camping, and the rafting is great. I like all the rivers down there for different reasons.
Buteo
Colorado is a helluva road trip... But worth it. IMO the best thing about living here are the scenic roads. Tons of twisty canyon runs with small western mountain towns to stay over in. Not to mention all the hiking, rafting, skiing.
BBQdDude
+10 for new river. Hits every point you mentioned.
Jewtoys
Maybe share how much driving you would like to tackle? For something semi close you could swing through the Charlotte area for the whitewater, canoeing, zip lining, etc needs as you said you don't want anything too extreme. (Man-made) http://usnwc.org/ Really fun place to spend the day at. From there you could head out to the blue ridge parkway and enjoy that...
