jeffro
If you get just the nailer you should be fine. Just avoid anything "2 in 1." To me, compressors should either be huge or tiny. I like the $99 porter cable pancake compressors as they are easy to move around the house. I also have a 20 gallon that barely gets used. It's overkill for a nailer and too small for any other tool I own/want. But, that's just me. Get whatever suits your needs, just don't expect a 10g to run an air sander, etc. If the compressor is just going to sit in one place though, might as well go as big as you can. Sell me your 10 gal on the cheap Air sander, no. Pump up a tire or maybe take some lugs off? Maybe. Considering an electric impact for lugs. Considering an electric impact for lugs. Hey, its a 20g!. It still does get used a little bit though. It's currently rolling between bedrooms as I finish trim. I grab the pancake if it's more than a 15ft roll to the next spot. A pancake will do those easily as well. +1 on the cordless impact
RedRocket1647545505
On the subject of nailers... Avoid the Ridgid Hyperdrives. I originally bought the 16ga finish nailer and it was a turd. Wouldn't sink 2" nails to save its life. I took it back and got the 18ga brad nailer instead. It's better, but still bulky and a PITA to use. It also will randomly refuse to sink a nail about 5% of the time. As soon as I'm done with the trim work on my house, I'm taking it back as well and putting the money towards a compressor and pneumatic. jeffro
if i end up getting that HF 18ga nailer and AC ill try to do a review on it. I have a nice DSLR camera that i have been meaning to put to use.
jeffro
Welp made the buy. Built a little wooden crate for the missus tonight with it. No jams from the nailer and the compressor ran great. Only takes a second to refill. Assuming everythings lasts, worth the money on both accounts. NWill
Nice! Also, if you're not aware, check out hfqpdb.com for future HF purchases. They typically have every current coupon for them.
NWill
And here is what I mean by two holes from the 2&1 nailerhttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160214/78b40cd7bf2eab3d9c796ad6378a9852.jpg These were just 1.5" 18ga brads
jeffro
Thanks for the pic. Here is a couple of things i have been working on the last few nights. Gotta start somewhere... . Basic birdhouse. Decent practice on getting cuts correct on the table saw. http://i.imgur.com/HhPVV16.jpg And a spice rack. Still in progress. http://i.imgur.com/nqFBBEV.jpg
NWill
Nicely done! Get yourself to Woodwerks and pick up a Wixey digital mitre guage. They are $45 or so on amazon. $15 at Woodwerks. They have random awesome deals sitting in 5g buckets. They are dead on and amazing for setting up your saws
jeffro
This mornings project. The missus wanted a wine rack made from pallets so that's exactly what she got. http://i.imgur.com/gitdpvJl.jpg
NWill
That looks great. How is the compressor?
jeffro
Zero complaints so far. Fills up quickly, holds air and is not super loud. Hopefully it lasts. The HF 18ga nailer is nice too. Ive put probably 400 brads through it and didnt have a single jam. Finished product photos coming when theyre done uploading (huge photos) I actually didn't use my planer on that table. I used my jointer on the 2x6s and then glued them together. I would have used my planer for some of it, but I didn't have it yet. I have the Dewalt 735. It can do up to 13" wide boards.

NWill
I jointed top and sides of 2x6's then used biscuits and glued them up. A few passes with the sander and it was good to go.
jeffro
Oh cool. I am thinking of building a router table for my router. I found this set of plans last night that i liked and seems simple enough. Since my table saw doesn't support dado stacks, i need an alternative and i think i can get away with it using a router. http://www.woodsmith.com/files/issues/195/quick-and-easy-router-table.pdf
LJ
Anyone wanna build my kid a new chair for his desk? He has an antique kids rolltop desk, and the chair that came with it is junk and constantly falls over. The issue is the chair is 14.25" seat height, and everything I find is either too big, or 13.25 seat height.

Just get or make a good straight edge, not Bora. I have two and both are junk.
