Draco-REX
I wonder what it would do in the 1/4..
AudiOn19s
If the same amount of engineering thought went into the car that went into his safety equipment then no thanks... Sets out to run a speed record with harness bar only coupled with harness over the sides of a stock seat which isn't going to work right and a seating position that places his helmet touching the roof of the car. Would have rather seen him with just the stock 3 point belts and be done with it.
Geeto67
I don't think the helmet touching the ceiling is going to matter much, it's a bell bullett motorcycle helmet which is only DOT rated and not snell or ece. If he had a wreck they would just ladel his head out like campbell's chunky soup. I'm curious why he chose such a heavy platform for an electric car. There are plenty of cars that weigh 1/4 of a vette and deliver the same drag coefficient.
EssFo
I thought the same about the belts. Install Shark bar Install belts Lets do 200 MPH! If you're a normal sized human your head will hit the roof with a helmet in a C6. Really need aftermarket seats (or a Gurney bubble) to fit correctly. Smokey
Worst harness install/use EVAR! Seriously all I could think about no matter how great the other achievements.
Ackbar00
Hmmm, trapped 140 with stock seat belts, a Meijer helmet and no cage. On a side note, it did pass tech. lol

Ackbar00
When it was trapping 125 yes. At 140, it had a full 2000 GT conversion. (Front, rear, Hydroboost). I could have road raced it, they worked awesome!
RC K9
Edit, the $1.5mi car a saw was something else. I believe someone told me this conversion was $50k. I think with $50k on a gas platform, you could get double the HP though... Edited August 5, 2016 by RC K9
Mallard
My coworker is in the middle of turning an RX8 into an EV at a fraction of that cost. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
Geeto67
EV racing is that thing that was cheaper to do 5 years ago but now the money has caught up and it's pushing the grass roots folks out. Some of the higher end motor controllers are now $10K+ (http://www.evwest.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=1&products_id=148&osCsid=vleo35m172fn7h14heq25ugeu4) alone, and high end racing motors can approach $20K (http://www.evwest.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=8&products_id=300). It's no joke now, and gas race cars are now cheaper.

I think the quality of the product has been elevated, so now you have more expensive, high end parts that weren't around before. My co-worker follows along with the EVTV guys and his build is using all parts scavenged from production cars. Until there are millions of junked EV's sitting in pick and pulls, it will always be cheaper to do a crazy, JP-like ICE build.
