zeitgeist57
That Anaheim MINI is tight. FYI...West Coast used cars are where it's at.
Jeffrey
Or one of the turbo Buick Veranos. Those can scoot. They also come with a 6 speed. This, Veranos are basically a Cruze with the Regals 2.0T in them which are a DP and tune away from a very reliable 300whp. There aren't many 2.0T Veranos out there with a 6peed manual, but finding one would be worth it.

I was also looking at the Regal GS for sh*ts and giggles (which is out of my price range and also hard to find in the configuration I like) and those look like neat cars too. Jeffrey
Yeah, the GS cars are nice too. Later models have the same engine as the base engine but they still perform well. Found 3 Verano turbos in a country wide search, all 500 miles or more. Good luck with your search.
Fiji ST
I’d recommend a Mazdaspeed3. Should be able to find one in Texas without the dreaded rust that eats those things inside out.
supldys
Don't get a mini, man. I was looking at A3s and GTIs, but the "reliable" years were out of my range which was $4-5k too, ended up getting a V6 accord, handles texas pretty well. MazdaSpeed 6 looks awesome, but rare and pricey.

I like the Gen of Regal GS prior to the current generation. Whatever Gen this is. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/554264812103441/ Though if it's going to be automatic, it needs to be AWD. Fiji ST
MazdaSpeed 6 looks awesome, but rare and pricey. They're also a boat. They are so heavy that I'd give up AWD and take a more nimble MS3.

That generation of GS is my favorite as well. LDK engine is pretty stout. My HHR SS has the LNF and has been running with a tune for a few years and 90k miles. Now has 190k and running 23-24 psi and has not missed a beat. If you can find a GS in that generation you like I would pick one up.
Crossle
Why is a Verano still up for discussion as a fun car? Those things are miserable lol and don't hold up like most 'Murican cars from that era.
Benner
Any interest in GTI's? We took a 2011 GTI manual w/ 57k in on trade. Looks like a really clean car. they're asking 10k. https://www.dantobin.com/VehicleDetails/used-2011-Volkswagen-GTI-4dr_HB_Man-Columbus-OH/4220425593

Good mileage, but buy it and immediately throw timing chain tensioners in it.
