TTQ B4U
So a friend of mine and local car enthusiast that many I'm sure have seen at Columbus Cars and Coffee had me work on another one of his fun cars. This one is a worked over 302 powered TR6. He's owned the car for over 30 years and had everything from the drive train and frame to every panel on the car replaced and updated. It's not perfect but it's fun and pretty clean for what it is. LOUD as hell and crazy quick thanks to power and low weight, it is certainly a toy that any car guy can appreciate. Paint wise, it's bright red color was applied about 15yrs ago and has up until this detail never seen a polisher. Just hand washes with basic detail spray applied. He brought it to me for a light polish and a full ceramic coating over wheels, paint and glass. Paint in some areas was thin so we went with as much correction as we could with safety of course being first and foremost. Overall it turned out great and even the wheels polished out surprisingly well and were coated as well. The roof was wrapped a while back and it too turned out great. Interior wise, it wasn't on the list but I couldn't resist doing it as a bonus, I cleaned the the mats and carpet up with the Tornador Velocity Vac which pulled out every bit of dust and decades of much out to help rejuvenate the appearance. And while normally a full steam clean would be best to reduce the "old car" era smell, a full treatment with Chlorine Dioxide helped bring back a fresh clean scent but the owner suspects it will smell like exhaust and rubber again shortly Enjoy the pics and look for it at the next cars and coffee if the weather permits. zeitgeist57
Awesome job as usual, Tim! Anything that can be done with the yellowing of the tail lenses?
TTQ B4U
Awesome job as usual, Tim! Anything that can be done with the yellowing of the tail lenses? Thanks Clay. Yes/No on the tail lenses. The outside polished up just a bit but they are crazed and cracked in some places that leaning in too much given how brittle they are so old and likely hard to get, I went easy on them. I do think there's a very likely chance they could be sanded and polished to near perfect but Doug and I agreed to error on the side of caution. I wouldn't be so concerned if the parts themselves weren't so difficult to get and expensive as a result. In the end, the vehicle is aging gracefully is how I leave it.
