From the 2009 AMA Pro Road Racing Rulebook: "Section 7: Race Rules And Procedures 7.14 Flags / Lights vii. Blue Flag: Indicates to a rider that they are about to be overtaken. Riders are advised to keep their line and allow the faster rider to pass. Riders disregarding this flag may be blackflagged at the discretion of AMA Pro Racing."

So who interprets this as move out of the way??

Not me

:plus1: Jrp made the right move and held his line. Al Luddington got suspended for his actions at mid-ohio.

if you're lap traffic and the leader are coming up behind you, why WOULDNT you just let them pass? what do you gain by trying to race them? other than not going another lap down i guess...

true, but IMO there is a difference between hold your line and making them WORK to pass you, and holding your line and letting the faster riders pass (which is what the rulebook says).

i know this is prob a bad decision on my part but im going to use nascar in exampe only cuz i love birstol and its the ultimate place to factor in lap traffic. you are going to see people still racing for position while getting lapped at the same time. the faster car has to adjust his line, not the lapped car.

yes, the faster car has to adjust his LINE, but the slower car needs to adjust their PACE to let the leaders pass. they want you to keep the same line so someone doesnt run into you trying to pass.

he wasnt racing for any position there. he was between first and second. if there was another lap down rider that he was jostling for 15th or whatever with, then thats one thing... but its different in that situation with just the 3 of them.

besides that, if that stuff went on for more than a couple laps at bristol, the lap down car would get punted into the wall.

not really i have watched lapped cars run with the leaders the for 15 or more laps. esp if they are fighting for the lucky dog position....

right, but i dont think AMA has a lucky dog. not yet anyway ;)

i understand wanting to stay on the lead lap in a nascar race, but this is a different animal IMO

i guess its not a race anymore, its a '"show"

:plus1: That pissed me off the most. I guess to DMG, it's not racing anymore. It's just a "show", like reality TV. Just setting up the grid so there's the perfect ending. "We no longer care about racing, we just want a good show"

Hmmm, sounds familiar. NASCAR anyone?
