chevysoldier
After Moose's(I think) thread I decided to join the Ohio Patriot Guard Riders. I get email updates as soon as a mission posts in the state of Ohio. I figured I would repost here for anyone that would like to pay condolences. You don't even need to have a motorcycle. Just bring a 3'x5' American Flag with you. Will update this as they come along.SHORT NOTICEFinal Itinerary Confirmed MissionLCpl David R. chevysoldier
*** Confirmed Memorial Mission , Jamie Nicholas, 29 September 2009, Clay , WV ***The Memorial Mission for unveiling of the Jamie Nicholas Monument on 29 September is rapidly becoming a “high profile” event. Those who attended the 2-day funeral mission we did in Clay , WV a year ago, will no doubt remember the massive amounts of community support we witnessed for Jamie and his family; this mission falls on the one-year anniversary of Jamie’s passing (KIA). His wife, Michelle (who has since joined the Pennsylvania PGR) has commissioned a former Disney artist to create a full-size likeness of Jamie on a 7 ½ foot tall piece of granite…this monument will be placed at the cemetery and unveiled at this mission. Members of Jamie’s Special Forces team will be in attendance, as well as other friends and family members , and I’m sure it will be an emotional time for some of them. Local news media will be covering the event, as requested and coordinated with Michelle. She is doing everything she can to ensure Jamie will never be forgotten as a hero who faithfully served his country, state, and community. I know this mission falls on a workday, but if you can find a way to attend, I know the family will be very appreciative. I am extending an invitation to all riders, i.e., VFW, Legion Riders, Red Knights, Blue Knights , CMA, etc., to participate in this mission; every citizen of the USA enjoys freedoms paid for with the blood of those who have sacrificed their lives, and it is fitting to invite all who are able, to participate. A US flag was flown in honor of Jamie at this year’s Gathering of The Guard in Utah , and it will be presented to the family at the mission. There will be announcements made of several other very special projects relating to Jamie, but I am not at liberty to publicize them at this time.Staging location: Go-Mart in Clay Junction, WV (located at the intersection of Rt 4 and Rt 16…it’s “Go-Mart Inc 65”). This will be the most convenient location for those arriving from any direction, and will afford you the opportunity to fuel up, get a bite, have a bathroom break, etc. According to Google , the address is: 24 Procious Maysel Rd, Clay, WV.Time: Come as early as you like, but please try to be there no later than 1130. Mission brief will take place at 1145, KSU at 1200 sharp! We will be riding on a country road, and parking on the road when we arrive at the general cemetery location. Bring a plate for your kickstand. The cemetery is located about ¼ mile from the road, and we will be walking through the woods on a nice trail to get to it. For those unable to walk that far, we will have a vehicle to transport you. The friends and family will be gathering at a farmhouse near the cemetery, and our bike/cage procession will pass right by them. We will arrive at the cemetery location about 20-30 minutes ahead of them, and will be in place as they arrive. Additional data: I will be contacting the Clay County Sheriff to inquire about police escort. Bikes and cages are welcome; please remember to bring your 3x5 flags, and if you can bring an extra one, please do so. I know there will be several guest riders with us who will not have a flag of their own. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Buddy (RCIC) at deaconbiker@yahoo.com The phone number is 304-984-0104 . Please continue to monitor this mission thread for any updates.Respects,Joe CumblidgeWV State Captain
