Staff Sgt. James P. Hunter, 25, of South Amherst, Ohio, died June 18 in Kandahar, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky. Reed, US Army Veteran/PGR Member/American Legion Post #67 commander, has requested the presence of the Patriot Guard Riders at the funeral of their son who lost his life last evening in a motorcycle accident just north of St. Mary’s, WV.Brian was a member of the US Army Special Forces, doing multiple tours in the Sandbox. He was forced to take medical retirement earlier this year after suffering a hip injury during his latest deployment. He did, however, just return from Afghanistan earlier this month as a civilian employee of the US Government, again doing Special Ops.Funeral details and ride captain will be announced as soon as they are available.
