Need help identifying this

My buddy got this taillight, and of course, I find it AMAZING. He plans on doing a mold and casting it but we're trying to figure out who the hell made it in the first place.

It's potted metal, rechromed in some areas.

Anyone have any ideas?

Which, obviously, I am. But my buddy loves it (hence why he bought it) to put on his bike, and he doesn't really care for cats.
