Its a dance fighting art form. Its usually performed to tell a story and is considered art not fighting. Its usually just sparring at the most but moreso, an exhibition of a style of dancing. The current wikipedia article for it seems to be undecided as to which 'origin story' is correct. Odds are, then, that there's some truth to both sides.
