Likwid
Ummm...unless I'm mistaken, this country was founded by Christian Men who based it on Christian Principles. It was?The Declaration of Independence gives us important insight into the opinions of the Founding Fathers. Thomas Jefferson wrote that the power of the government is derived from the governed. Up until that time, it was claimed that kings ruled nations by the authority of God. The Declaration was a radical departure from the idea of divine authority. The 1796 treaty with Tripoli states that the United States was "in no sense founded on the Christian religion" (see below). This was not an idle statement, meant to satisfy muslims-- they believed it and meant it. This treaty was written under the presidency of George Washington and signed under the presidency of John Adams. Also it's widely disputed that the founding fathers were "christian"An anti abortionist fired random shots into a crowd of innocent people last week? I missed that.I'm surprised you pick up any news or tv through the tin foil hat.
Likwid
In the U.S., violence directed toward abortion providers has killed at least nine people, including five doctors, two clinic employees, a security guard, and a clinic escort.According to statistics gathered by the National Abortion Federation (NAF), an organization of abortion providers, since 1977 in the United States and Canada, there have been 17 attempted murders, 383 death threats, 153 incidents of assault or battery, and 3 kidnappings committed against abortion providers.[10] The attempted murders were:[5][11][12]The first letters claiming to contain anthrax were mailed to U.S. clinics in October 1998, a few days after the Slepian shooting, and since then, there have been a total of 655 such bioterror threats made against abortion providers. None of the "anthrax" in these cases was real.[11][14]According to NAF, since 1977 in the United States and Canada, property crimes committed against abortion providers have included 41 bombings, 173 arsons, 91 attempted bombings or arsons, 619 bomb threats, 1630 incidents of trespassing, 1264 incidents of vandalism, and 100 attacks with butyric acid ("stink bombs").[10] The first clinic arson occurred in Oregon in March 1976 and the first bombing occurred in February 1978 in Ohio.[15] More recent incidents have included:[5]
wrillo
Why is it that almost every Christian I know has it in for Catholics?I can only speak for myself' date=' but I have a personal grudge against the Catholic church (I'll admit that much). I was actually raised Catholic all the way [u']up to confirmation, but never was. Even in the 7th grade I could recognize all the hypocrisy, and ridiculousness that is the Catholic church. On top of my personal beef, there are plenty of historic reasons not to like them. However, to any Catholics out there, I mean not to offend you. I am just a bitter bitter person, so don't mind me. Casper
I've always wanted to walk into a Catholic church wearing gloves, holding a small piece of dry ice, reach into the holy water, and start yelling "I'm melting! I'm melting!".

wrillo
I've always wanted to walk into a Catholic church wearing gloves, holding a small piece of dry ice, reach into the holy water, and start yelling "I'm melting! I'm melting!".but thats the problem with Catholics, they'd actually believe you. Then they'd tell anyone that questions their story that "they saw it with their own eyes" and that it really happened. Then 9 people would write kinda similar stories about what happened. 2000 years later, we'd celebrate the death of Lucifer himself. jporter12
I was raised pretty much in a Baptist church my whole life. I attended Sunday School' date=' Sunday evening and Wednesday evening services. I "volunteered" on the church bus ministry. I attended a Christian school that was held in the basement of a Baptist church, for fuck's sake. So, I can relate to finding the hypocrisy in all of it. However, the same can be said of any organization. It's always the "converts" that are the most adamant about the falsehood they came from. I don't do church, not because I find the ideology to be flawed, but because I find the lack of conviction inside Christians to be evidence that it is all bullshit. Faith, without works, is dead.. so to speak. That, and the Bible teaches that God hates "lukewarm Christians" and if I wasn't ready to fully devote myself to Christianity I might as well not do any of it. I took this as a fair stance from God's perspective, and walked away from all of it. Why waste His time if I'm just going to "half-ass" it. Right?[/quote']At least your reasoning isn't "just because I don't believe it!"

Organized religion is nasty business.Incidentally, most of the founding fathers were Deists, not christians. Remember, our country was founded at the tail end of the Enlightenment.
