Hello,

Riverside Methodist Hospital's Trauma Service is hosting ASMI's "A Crash Course for the Motorcyclist" on Saturday, March 6th, 2010. Attached is the flyer for the course. Please assist in getting the word out by forwarding this to those who may be interested.

This course teaches the basics of motorcycle trauma, using P.A.C.T. The one day course is geared towards the lay rescuer but is great for the EMS and emergency staff as well. Helmet removal, moving the injured and jaw thrust rescue breathing are all a part of this class. This course contains all the information you need to respond to a motorcycle related trauma scene. This course includes 6.0 RN CEUs.

Objectives for this course include:

  • Identify how to prevent further injury
  • Assess the situation and gather information for the EMS
  • Effectively contact the EMS
  • Treat the injured in a logical manner using the ABCSS of Trauma
  • Identify other life threatening injures that can be treated at the scene
  • Identify common environmental first aid problems requiring immediate care

If you should have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank you,

Dara Bakes BS, EMT-P
