Craigslist
1983 Harley-Davidson : Sportster : XR-1000Year: 1983 Warranty: NoMiles: 3,815 Engine: Heavy (700 cc and up)Condition: Used Title: ClearExterior : Black Vin Number 1HD1CDH22DY1180811983 Harley-Davidson XR-1000 SporsterVehicle DescriptionThis is a rare 1983 Harley XR-1000 built in February 22,1983, the 23rd XR built out of 1748 produced during a 2 year production run. This particular bike was 1 of 41 to receive the Harley black and orange paint scheme as all others were painted slate gray. This motorcycle was first used by Harley-Davidson as a “show vehicle”, this means that it was used by different departments for pictures, to show to the dealer at the dealer show and comes with a letter of authenticity from Harley Davidson verifying this information. This motorcycle was originally sold through Robison Harley-Davidson in Daytona Beach Fl. and was sold on April 13, 1983. This motorcycle has now had four owners. The XR-1000 was Harley’s street version of the famous XR-750 dirt-tracker. Each XR-1000 came with the same dual carb heads as the 750 race bike and were all ported and polished by West Coast Performance guru Jerry Branch….right from the factory. At 70hp, the XR-1000 was Harley’s highest performance offering, and Allan Girdler in the Harley’s Buyers Guide gave it his highest 4 star rating for investment purpose. At nearly $7,000.00., the XR’s were much costlier than the crotch rockets from across the water.Vehicle Condition:This is a low mileage, excellent, near perfect original condition, un-restored and unmolested XR as it came from the factory except for the Lochhart oil cooler installed. The original megaphones replaced with optional factory racing megaphones. All original parts come with the sale of bike to include factory mufflers, Owner’ Manual and Owner’s Manual Supplement XR-1000, also an un-opened copy of the Dealer 1983 XR-1000 Service Manual Supplement, R-101 Racing Bulletin XR-1000 High Performance Data. Also included is the original sales brochure, copy of March 1983 Cycle World Magazine featuring the XR-1000, copy of Enthusiast featuring 50th Sportster anniversary, the Harley-Davidson motorcycle dealer set-up and pre-delivery check list with the original plastic Owner-Warranty Identification Card, original vehicle registration form, previous titles. This bike is in extremely nice condition except for a few small touched up paint chips on the trailing edge of front fender and 2 small chips on rear of rear fender, the tank is like new inside and out, the rest of the bike has few little nicks here and there in frame paint. Seat is excellent condition. I have tried to show in photo’s the condition as accurately as possible and can send more pictures if bidder Phone-- 614-879-6255More...
