InyaAzz
http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/03/09/ohio.state.shooting/I know there are a few OSU employees on here...just wanted to be sure everyone was OK.(CNN) -- Three Ohio State University employees were shot, one of them fatally, in an early Tuesday morning attack on campus, university police said. The alleged shooter was in custody, said Ohio State University Police Chief Paul Denton. No students were involved in the shooting, which occurred around 3:30 a.m. ET at the McCracken Power Plant building on West 17th Avenue near Ohio Stadium, Denton said. The two wounded victims were taken to a hospital; one was in critical condition, he added.Denton did not release the names of anyone involved in the shooting nor a motive.E-mail alerts were sent to students warning them about the shooting, the university said. The shooting comes after the university issued e-mail alerts last week about two alleged sexual assaults and an attempted assault on campus, Ohio State's student newspaper reported. The student newspaper, The Lantern, published an article Sunday saying that students were questioning the effectiveness of e-mail alerts designed to warn them after three serious crimes last week.Students are allowed to choose if they want to receive the e-mail alerts. On the campus of 50,000-plus students, a little more than 2,600 people receive the e-mails, police told the student paper.A university committee was scheduled to meet this week to determine if changes needed to be made to the notification system, The Lantern reported. Disclaimer
A coworker alerted me to this story this morning... I always like to read the comments on these articles that the 'general public' can comment on. Really makes you lose faith in humanity the things some people say and the way the think. *sigh*

Maybe the fact that I'm an OSU Police Officer...I think I know what I'm talking about. You can catch the news release at 11 for updates. And when something like this happens in an enclosed area within seconds, most people aren't going to have time to react when rounds are coming at you already. Its been studied and researched already and proven. Even with a classroom of students saying they could stop a gunman. They all got killed and stated that they weren't prepared mentally for it or that they coudn't get to their weapon quick enough. Its a very sad that this happened yes. That one retard followed what others have done in a path of violence and death. Edited March 9, 2010 by SJC1000rr

r1crusher
Define 'enclosed area'....are we talking a closet? Are we talking an average sized office space? I would have to disagree with your statement though. If there would have been an armed citizen (hypothetically of course because universities are too PC to allow their students and staff to carry) with the proper training there at that time I'd be willing to be that the perp would be taken to the hospital before being hauled off to jail.Of course this topic has been and will be beat to death for a long time and will only end when this country takes the last steps needed to completely disarm it's people. r1crusher
I somehow sense some sarcasm there, but I will say that unless there's an officer with me as a personal escort 24/7 I will never think of them as an entity which is there to 'protect' me.No offense to those officer out there of course. Firefighters can't be there right away, neither can LEOs.

SJC1000rr
About right? Also, should a "police officer" be using "~Drive Fast, Take Chances~" as their quote? You really make me laugh. You don't get what you want, so you just try to attack me. I don't think anywhere in my post I said I was an expert. I don't believe anyone is an "expert" as more just very proficient. You just make assumptions and try to validate your own beliefs.O-well, I'm not going to comment any more on this thread as its not worth my time. And as for what I do outside my job is my own business. I'm accountable for what I do and if I am wrong I admit it and take it like anyone else.Obviously, you surfing the internet has made everyone safer....r1crusher As for where...I can't say due to policy, and no I'm not hiding behind it. As this is a public forum and this is the hot news, my arse would be sent to the wolfs for commenting. Would it be possible if a civilian was there, maybe. Would a civilian actually be there, very doubtful in this case, due to specific place and time. You guys find the dickhead that stole my stereo on west campus yet? I doubt it. I probably didn't take the report, but stereo's are very hard to find due to the BS in columbus. Either sold street side or shady pawn shops. r1crusher
SJC...I'm by no means asking you to break policy. I was just making a point and it was nothing directed at you personally. Also, when I said 'citizen' I was referring to anyone licensed to carry who is not an LEO so this would include the staff on campus as well. But I think we're on the same page.
