Own a cruiser.. but got a serious crush..

I ride a 2005 Shadow Aero 750 (see sig pic).

I have a crush though--- on the Honda ST (cc yet to be determined).

Two problems--- I'm short- only 5' 1/2" (not even 5'2") -sport bikes are usually too tall for me.

Oh, and there is of course the fact I don't want to fork out $9k right now.

Anyway, any thoughts on the Honda Sport Tourers? Advice for midgets?

Oh, and do you have a REALISTIC bike crush?

Something that would be a cross between the Harley I just got rid of, and the cbr I have would be great. My girl gets very sad that she can't ride with me, anymore. I want something that would be able to handle both situations.

being short and riding a motorcycle is a real problem. Being just 5'5 as a guy I have found I just really don't fit a lot of the bikes out there. Its one of the reasons I do really like my buell. they made the scg just for shorter people.

My advice is avoid that Honda VT700 thingy and go straight for the BMW F800ST.

every bmw i have gotten on sits really high. She said she was under 5'2

ST's are in my opinion the best bike to meet all your needs. Its not the greatest at anything but it suites all needs reasonably well and even out-performs some specialty bikes in their own market. Powerful, handles well, removable luggage, decent wind protection............ great bike.......... I loved mine. I hope you find a way to get one!

i have turned my little sv650 into a decent sport tourer and shorter people seem to do pretty well on them....they are easy to lower from what ive heard

I like the Triumph Bonneville - maybe getting one someday for my wife if she decides she's ready to upgrade from the teeny tiny Honda she's got now.

With some bags, a windscreen and maybe an upgraded seat, would be a good little tourer. Low seat height (29.4"), light weight (under 500lbs.), looks cool, and the base model can be had for about $7k if you shop it right.

You might want to look at an older VFR750. They could be had for not a lot of serious cash. Then with a lowering kit and a corbin seat, you might be alright. 5' 2" ?

If replacing my current, id go bmw k1300s, if changing styles, its totally loaded wing.
