How did the methadone kill him? I don't understand how the pills made his lungs fill with blood.

Sounds like pulmonary edema caused by the methadone. It is more common with heroin overdoses but has been noted some with orally ingested methadone.

Sorry for your loss Holly, that methadone is wicked stuff, I lost a friend to a methadone/xanax overdose shortly after high school.

thanks everyone, its a big help to me knowing i have the support of people, most of which i have never met, on my side.

I did let lose the other night but i am always safe, i have a three year old to take care of. If it wasn't for her i would have went down a totally different road. Everything happens for a reason i am sure of it.

With time the pain eases......the bad memories fade and the good ones return. These emotional painful times in life build character and strength in a person. They also help shape us into what we will become.

I lost my Dad in a different, but just as dramatic fashion last year. In the process of taking care of my Mother and getting her through the following months, I lost my siblings through egotistical life long hate filled attitudes.

I know how it is not to have family to fall back on, but you will survive.

Stay safe and sane, your little one needs a Mom for the rest of her/his life!!

Sorry for your loss and I know first hand these close losses are hard but please remember that there is no relief in the bottle of a bottle. Sometimes the bottle of the bottle only has more grief.
