You can laugh at my tinfoil hat again... But they were talking about some scary crap tonight regarding the next crash that's coming... Predictably within the next 12 months.

Analyst is predicting ~50 municipal bond defaults worth millions & billions of dollars

California is quickly approaching junk bond credit rating status

Arizona has had to sell off their capitol building, supreme court, & legislative chambers to investors... And then lease them back

Illinois state troopers getting turned away from some gas stations, because their state gas card is not accepted anymore. The state itself spending twice what it's taking in. Illinois state universities having to raise tuition by ~32% to make up for the missing state subsidies

** Just found the segment on youtube...

Free market will fix it all... don't worry. All those tax cuts and smaller gov't will make everything run smoother.

If only anyone would give free market a chance.

Tax cuts only work when giving them to the people and no big business.

Smaller government = less government spending = of course that'd fix the problem of government overspending. Duh.

Free market failed with the bailout. Privatize the rewards and socialize the losses.

And with the US population growing, how do you propose we make smaller gov't to service the needs of the growing populace? Where would you make the cuts? I don't want to wait 4 hrs at the BMV each time I need plates for a new vehicle.

How do you classify bailout in the same category as free trade? Bailouts are socialism amigo.

As for how to shrink government and spending, that's easy. Just think.

I didn't come in the thread and start advocating it. That's why I asked what cuts YOU would make and the reforms you would institute... so then I can get on Google and see if they pan out. Logically and economically.

Surely you have facts and data to support your positions...

While I do <3 the Boondocks, TARP was initiated under Bush and followed through by Obama. So, do you blame the bailout or the lack of oversight that caused it? Either way the onus really isn't on Obama other than finishing what was already started.

And Ben, don't take my last post the wrong way... I don't mean for it to come off like I'm jumpin down your stuff, because it's not like I have all the answers either, but based on my readings and research I don't see where the profit motive / free market fits within our societal structure, which Pauly already noted... is basically just a Plutocracy disguised as a Democracy. The "free market" is what lead to the current structure, so resetting the field is just going to make it evolve into the same all over again.

I'll give credit to NJ Governor Chris Christie; many may not like him or agree with him, but he seems to be the only government official telling it like it is.

Yeah... I had to laugh during the assembly when he told the one teacher that was complaining to him she wasn't getting paid commensurate with her education & experience level, that she could always stop doing it if she didn't like it

I know ideally teachers should make more than they do, but it is what it is, & it's been that way for a lonnng time... So they shouldn't be surprised by it at this juncture

Combine all this with the upcoming shortfall in social security that will no longer be able to mask how bad the deficit #'s truly are... And we're truly screwed. That comment above about 35% money from China is no jest. All they have to do is raise the interest rate on our debt to them, & our credit rating will also be junk bond status... And they'll own a brand new colony without ever firing a shot

And for those of you who were laughing at me about the whole Nestle/Great Lakes conspiracy, & stealing/shipping our best water over to China to replenish their aquaphors... This could play riiiight into that. They just keep giving us enough rope until we finally hang ourselves

that question just served up a meatball of a pitch for me. The answer: Population Control. For example, sterilize stupid people and those broads on welfare that have 8 kids to stay on welfare. Also, shut down the borders :D

I'm putting you at the front of the line.

You CANNOT legislate intelligence and responsibility.

I'ma have to call up Glenn Beck for an answer to the problem...

I was too!

So how DID you get across the border?

I totally agree with you on sealing up the border, BUT... That's gonna cost money, too.

 son of a bitch!

I'm a huge, huge fan of population control however I know it would be expensive, difficult and it would surely piss off a lot of people from a morals perspective

I won't say anything. We have 3 kids, and a 4th on the way.

The irresponsible part is having kids that people can't afford to raise, or not raising them with good morals and a strong work ethic.

How can you blame this on the free market when there isn't one? There hasn't been a free market in decades.

How to cut costs/boost revenues? Kill welfare. Kill social security. Kill unemployment. Kill the healthcare bill. No tax cuts for businesses. Kill the income tax. Kill all social programs. If it isn't in the constitution, kill it. Now I'm talking on a Federal level. The states are free to do what they want. If you don't like what your state has to offer, fucking move. The Federal government should be taking care of the Union, not the people. I just dropped the Federal government's spending by 90%. Done.
