knedrgr
So in honor of JMB's ingenuity, and the adoption of the 1911 on March 29th, I celebrated with this kit; a Remsport railed government with slab slide. It might not be a purist's love of the M1911A1, but it's still a 1911. At least it's not a 2011 :tongueout:. Specs from Remsport:•*Stainless steel rail government fitted frame and slide.• Fitted stainless steel match barrel and bushing.• 15 lpi FS checkering.• Serrated top of slide.• Novak cut front and rear sights.• Bare magwell for a custom bevel. Here's a partial list of some of the parts that will be going on there.• EGW monogram barrel bushing and plug.• EGW oversize beavertail.• EGW recoil spring guide.• EGW oversize firing pin stop.• 10-8 gen 2 slide stop.• 10-8 flat trigger.• 10-8 solid rear sight.• 10-8 brass bead front sight. (Maybe Tritium, still up in the air)• Wilson rebuild pin setInitial impression:The slide and frame is SILKY SMOOTH. It's almost like they are on bearings. No play whatsoever. The 15 lpi doesn't feel that bad on the hand. They are pointy, but then I haven't shot it yet. Might have to flatten them out a bit.The lock up on the barrel lugs are nicely fitted, and brakes out of battery smoothly. Could use a hair bit more meat on the top lugs. We'll see how she will actually do at the range. The trigger tracks are smooth. No play vertical nor horizontal play on the trigger. Now onto the porn:

knedrgr
Very nice one of my bucket list guns. Had one sold it now wish I never had...Thanks. That's what a lot of 1911 owners (or prior owners) have said about their 1911's. That is if you know to stay away from certain manufactures. knedrgr
Update to the build. So a couple of weeks ago, I got mostly everything together. Flared and bevel the magwel:Before:After:Also blended the frame/slide/ejector/extractor and top of the beavertail:A little more blending of the bottom of the beavertail:Finished and functional:I still need to decide which final finish treatment: bead blast or melonite.Complete Parts list:Remsport stainless rail frameRemsport stainless slab slideRemsport stainless barrel/link and bushingWolff spring kitWilson stainless spring plugWilson stainless tactical ambi thumb safetyWilson stainless pin setWilson stainless bulletproof extractorWilson stainless extended ejectorEGW stainless spring guideEGW stainless beavertail grip safetyEGW stainless 9mm/38 super firing pinEGW stainless oversize firing pinEGW stainless mag catchEd Brown stainless mag catch lockHarrison stainless plunger tubeHarrison tactical ignition set; hammer, sear, disconnector10-8 stainless slide stop10-8 black solid rear sight10-8 flat triggerNovak tritium front sightGuncrafter Industry mainspring housingVZ Frag gripsBrownells grip bushings and screwsAnd went to the range to test her out. The gun is still breaking itself in. The barrel lock up is tight, and had a few failure to return to battery. A few times, I had to tap the slide back into battery.Total round count on this build is about 100. Sights are nice with the Novak tritium front and 10-8 rear. Front sight height is 0.190" and it's hitting POA. And here's about 30 rounds at 7 yards. 230gr PMC ammo. I'm really digging the flatten 15lpi on both the FSC and MSH. The VZ Frag grips gives great texture and retention w/o being too aggressive.

And here were the options:But in the end, I'm going to stick to my original plan and leave it as is. I really like the slab slide. Just need to find a holster for it. Might need to call up Raven Concealment and get a custom kydex.I have a friend that has a STI Edge in 9mm, and that's a fun double-stack to shoot. Have you looked at any of the STI stuff?
