wicked94s10
I just got back from my second trip this year and think I may have found heaven. Us421 from Bristol Tn to Mountain City may just be the best road ever. Half way down 421 you can stop in Shady Valley its a little bike hang out like deals gap. Once in Shady Valley there are many options all which are top notch roads. We spent four days in the Bristol area and did not come close to hitting half the good stuff thats in the area. A few roads we hit were 421, 133, 58, 143, 19e, and some of the Blue Ridge parkway. IMO 421 puts the dragon to shame, the mountain stretches have smoother and more exciting curves with out the Police pull offs everyplace. This road is called the Dragon Slayer for a reason. and its closer to columbus then the dragon by over an hour. So if your looking for some good riding with out the tourist trap feel or thinking about a trip to the dragon this maybe someplace to look into.for additional info check out 421thesnake.comRoan MountainLinville FallsCarvers GapRoan Mountain On Backbone RockBelow Backbone Tunnel33 Miles of switchbacks Shady Valley country store Edited May 24, 2011 by wicked94s10

Ron505
We are having our annual Rally in Johnson City the first week of August, which is right there. Great pics. I'm even more excited now.
wicked94s10
The snake is not far from Johnson City, also very close to Roan Mountain which is a must. The first picture was taken on Roan Mountain. A touring bike is a must, I cant believe I rode 12 years on sport bikes. I did some touring on my R1 for awhile before I got this bike, its taken riding to a whole new level. I have put about 7000 miles on the bike in the last 3 months

wicked94s10
I enjoyed Deals Gap but I loved 421, Far less people, less cops, as many if not more good roads in the area. Better food and lodging plus closer to ohio, It is a blast down there I may even go back another time or two this year if I can squeeze it in between my other planned rides ron505 that place is a must if you are within 200 miles of it, may have been the best place I have ate in my life and I eat everyplace
