Ok so I didn't post it here, but if you are a facebook friend you should of heard I was rear ended last week. Here is the recap

it was way minor, like 2mph. Here is the kicker. The woman passenger claims it is her jeep, but has not title, has letter from Haveair, but no address and no Phone number for Haveair. The driver had is green card it looked like, but no Drivers License and no insurance. She wanted me to blow it off because she wanted to get to her daughters school, for a field trip. Her boyfriend was driving because she was still tipsy/hungover from partying the night before. She had to call the Babysitter to take the kids to school. I insisted cops be called. Fun times, they got a ticket and all, jeep was impounded, and they had to find another way to get to the field trip. Damage on the car; a scuff on the bumper, I have to point it out for people to see it. They ripped off the front bumper of the jeep.

So I kind of wrote it off, put it out of my mind. well inside of 30 minuets today I got 6 calls on my cell phone 1 from a lawyer wanting to represent me, and 4 chiropractors that want to fix me and charge the insurance company ad one that hung up, so Not sure who they where. Really, I thought calling cells in telemarketing was not allowed. If I was hurt, I would go to my regular MD first and have him recommend specialist if needed. call me crazy, but is this not how most would do it?

anyway, I have no point, just ranting, nothing to see here, keep moving.

Yup. Happens to everyone. It's a bit shocking the first time. Hence why we have so much litigation over non injury accidents. Then all of the sudden people are not hurt after they get a check.

yea. I am fine, and I am not going to try and use this a a payday. Shit happens, that is why they are called "ACCIDENTS". The people that bumped me already have enough bullshit with the law to deal with, they don't need me trying to get something I don deserve from them.

They search the police reports and start calling......Same thing happened to me by autobody shops.

They started calling too

Never put your cellphone down on the police report.

It is my only line

Why bother?? I'd just blown that off, seems silly to report such a minor incident, unless the person looked intoxicated or something.

It will probably end up being more hassle than it was worth to just let it go.

Just went through this same thing.... With my daughter having getting hit in my truck the other day... 15 different phone calls from 8:10 to 10:00am. I think 10tv just did a story on this also... They have been ignoring the do not call list.

What do you think someone driving without a license and insurance would do if they hit you while on the bike?

was not my car, was on loan from a friend, so I needed to do it by the book. Had it been my wrangler, yes I would of been no harm no foul, for the most part. The No licenses on the other hand also pressed the issue.

I think it's odd that so many people without licenses get into accidents. It seems to be a trend among the really bad drivers.

There is no comparison to getting hit on the bike and having your car bumper "tapped".

I think its odd that you think it's odd. Don't you think that makes perfect sense?

They don't have a license, therefore it's pretty much a given that they don't have a clue what they're doing,

or at least know right from wrong on the road (ie. traffic laws and rules).

I see this as similar to ATGATT. It's all about the attitude. If someone's going to do things the right way, they are less likely to run into trouble than the guy that's going to "wing it."

Noone should ONLY have their cell phone as a NUMBER.

Sign up for Google Voice if only forward the calls to your cell... then give out your Google number.

Good idea. I never really thought of that, and since our cell phones are the only phones we have, I may try this out!

I have one, but I never use it and am not 100% sure what the number is. Plus with the confusion of everything at that moment, google voice was far from my mind.

Since you decided to respond to my post without responding to the question, I'll answer it for you. A driver without a license and insurance is more likely to hit and run.

I just setup a Google Voice number. Now I just need to get it out as a number change for any companies that might be calling me, and keep my cell number for those that I want to take calls from.

GV is the best invention, ever. :p

Try having one that is serious. I was T-boned in my company vehicle. Totaled the truck. No questions asked. Totaled the other persons car. I went through weeks of rehab on my lower back/pelvis and my neck/head from getting it bounced off of the side window so bad it broke the window.

Dumbass driver did not have insurance. no green card necessary here, he was straight up american white trash. The cops do their citation work. His ride shows up, she gets out of the drivers seat and he drives away. I look at the cop and asked, what the F*ck is wrong with this picture? He asked, what do you want me to do. he can drive, we did not take his license. I was like really, he was just in a wreck and has not even a stitch of insurance and you just let him drive away like that.

What The F*ck do the rest of us pay insurance for? The bills started showing up at my house, because they could not get anything out of him. I was like Bullshit! Got a lawyer and went after him. He was a bigger piece of white trash when he asked, what are you going to do take my house. I just stop working because I am not paying his bills. To my reply then F*ck it take his house and kick him out on the street. Auction his shit off and sell his kids on the black market. They will be better off.

Judge, Snickered, broke out into a laugh, looked at me and said i completely understand your point.

An uninsured driver can lose his or her license until ther accident debt is paid off (or a payment arrangement is made and kept current) if you ask for it.

Did you have Uninsured Motorist coverage? I'm assuming you got the judgement, but did the courts manage to get any kind of payment from him?

Understood. Having said that, insurance follows the car and the officer has no basis to demand the insurance details of a car uninvolved in the wreck unless that car did something that would get it pulled over.
