lakesguypaul
I bought my son a old 1986 185 Suzuki quad runner from a high school tech school. the instructor said it was bored 40 over and when it was finished it smokes real bad. he said most likely the oil ring was put in upside down. it starts and runs great but smokes out the neighborhood.would that really make it smoke that bad? doesn't seem to use much oil and has a ton of compression. my question is, if i turn over the ring will it stop or do i have to re bore and all of that? i haven't ran it for more than a half hour since i got it at a time and then maybe a total of 2 hours. thanks for your time!!!! blue03636
If it is just the ring in the wrong direction it can just be flipped. Just check the cylinder wall to make sure nothing is scratched to shit.

Joey614
2 or 4 stroke my cousins smoke really bad when his ex 400 sucked in some water. He had to get get a whole new jug piston and rings because it eventually stopped running
