Loud and Low
I have KTM 50 Adventure senior.2 stroke mini mx bike.Bike ran when I parked it.Now it won't start. Getting fuel, getting spark.Won't even fire on ether. Little bastard is just dead. Compression seems fine, not tested. Pull the plug and kick it, I see spark against the head. I even shot ether directly in the cylinder and replaced the plug...not a hint of fire...I'm baffled...What gives?Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Steve Butters
sounds like compression to me....fuel+spark+compression = ignition.....if its sparking and has fuel, it has to be compression...i would test it and see what you come up with...you can have enough compression to have it "feel" ok, but not enough to start...best to test it and go from there, then you can rule that out or confirm it
Jamez
Start with the basics obviouslyCompressionSpark TO THE CYLINDERFuel TO THE CYLINDERAirThen check other things such as kick stand switch, clutch switch/neutral switch, crank sensor
Loud and Low
Yeah, makes sense. My bro has a gauge to check that. Any idea what the comp. should be?
buildit
I'd almost lay money on a clogged jet in the carb. Simply because it was the same issue with my 426 this summer. Granted the bike sat for over a year but after cleaning things up, one kick set it afire and life roared back into her.
Steve Butters
130-150 psi i believe....somebody feel free to correct me if thats not righti think 100psi is the minimum an engine will even run with Edited July 29, 2011 by Steve Butters
Loud and Low
If it were a clogged jet, wouldn't it fire on a direct ether injection? When I pulled the carb off, there was fuel on the cylinder side of the carb.
Loud and Low
Thanks Tyler, that's a good ballpark. I located my bro and he will bring his tester by to give it a go.
